Questions & Answers

Which dimensions do you know? Could you please let me know how high the lip is so that I can determine how much clearance I have with my bumper?

The setup is similar to what you'd find in a stock vehicle. A little over 46 inches from roof to floor, that's how tall my car is. You should set your racing and autocross setup low. At high speeds, the vehicle does not scrub in corners.

It looks so much better now
4/5

Although the directions weren't specific to Miatas, they helped provide a basic understanding of what needs to be done. However, I had to use a dremel and heat gun for some minor adjustments. A hole was drilled in each of the two tabs by either side of the lip in order for additional factory bumper support mounts to be used. The stock bolts were not long enough, so I had to find two longer ones that were not included to replace them. Multiple vice grip/clamps held the lip in place while I molded it to fit around the bumper. I used a heat gun to ensure that the lip was thoroughly warmed before molding it to fit. Also, I found 8 washers to fit the included self-locking nut I drilled 8 holes in the bumper bottom and started threading the screws lightly with a screwdriver, stopping when it became tight. Then I tapped the screws into place and clamped the lip in place. This is the only time I used double-spaced writing This double-sided tape appears to be very secure and unlikely to move, as described in the instructions. You should give this lip a try.

The value of the product is excellent
3/5

There is simply no comparison between this piece and others of its kind. What you should keep in mind This will require some "massaging" with a heat gun, and the finish is somewhat bumpy, but the texture is rather smooth. In the only places where the edges turned up to meet the fender, there was a slight warp. Nonetheless, as shown in the pictures, you can get an adequate fit if you put some time into it. I'm also guessing that higher priced lips would be a bit more difficult to modify. There were plenty of hardware options. The value of the product is excellent.

This lip replica does the trick, but not as well as other replicas
4/5

Several years ago, one of the replica lips I installed was damaged by a section of retread on a semi truck on the freeway. So, I bought this for replacement. This lip was comparably much better, almost as good as a factory lip. Luckily, the flange nut and bolts that came with the old lip and existing holes that came with it were able to be reused since this lip can only be installed with self-tappers, which from my personal experience are not sufficient to secure these types of lips. Initially, it appears as though the mold used to manufacture this lip is somewhat worn out normally, the top half of the duct holes would extend farther back As shown in the sample image, I had to drill out and mount these pieces to complete In addition, the bottom edge of the lip normally curves back under the car, but not this one. If you wanted to mount a splitter to the bottom of the lip, you would have a hard time doing so.

The money is nice for the price
4/5

However, there needs to be better instructions to make use of the product. You must replace the two factory 10mm bolts that hold the bumper brackets onto the bumpers with ones that are 1/4 inch longer since the bolts are used to hold the lip at both of its contact points with the bumper, and they cannot reach the bumper brackets after installation of the lip. However, it is a very easy and inexpensive fix.

Considering the price, this was good
5/5

However, packaging was not as good as it could be. Bubble wrap and trash bags with a shipping label and clear tape. Unlike the factory R lip, which is curved under and forms a U shape, the lip mold is a short one. I think you get what you pay for and I like the lip. There is enough space for the brake ducts I used almost 20 self tapping screws on this, so don't expect it to be an easy bolt-on.

Almost the same price as it was in the 1950s, but need some fabrication
5/5

It is a good price but you may need to do some fabrication to get a good result. I am not thrilled with the mounting holes. A poor design was used to mount the brake ducts. There is a sloppy interface to the wheels up front. It is a mediocre product that would be enhanced if the design were modified.
