It is true. The 2000 Chevrolet Silverado stepside bed truck will fit this item.
The 1999-2003 period is covered by this During the 2001 model year, Chevy Silverado came out with Stepside beds. Those in 2002 and older will not fit I bought this bed for my 2006 Silverado.
The GMC stepside mat will fit the tailgate skin and rear bed sill, but you have to measure the distance from the outside of the tailgate to that location. Measuring distance is taken at the lower outside corner next to the tail light of the tailgate. The depth of the void should be either 2 1/4" or 2 5/8".
As the part comes in raw steel, it needs to be prepared and painted properly.

The fit is very good for a handcrafted item. It is made of heavy metal and is All the tools necessary to install are included. I applied it to my 01 Z71 Silverado and it looks great. As well as great pricing!.
