Compliant with V6 on two levels. Can vouch for the fact that it works on a 1997 Ford F150 4. 2 pulleys for the power steering pump on a V6. Use a good grease, such as break caliper goo, to grease the threaded hardware. DO NOT attempt to remove the pulley's center torx 50 bolt; instead, simply remove the pulley from the shaft with the tool. A 16mm breaker bar for the stud, and a 21mm box wrench for the nut on the frame rail removal end. The resistance is strong, but if you go slow and steady, it will eventually give. This is a God-given tool.
At the moment, I'm working on my 83 6. Chevy K20 with a 2 liter engine. I discovered a small hole on the back side of the resovor after removing the power steering pump. I could have brazed the hole shut, but since the pump was the original and had been acting up intermittently, I chose to replace it rather than rebuild it. It's worth noting that a new pump almost never comes with a pulley. To obtain a puller, I visited both of the local automotive stores that lend tools. Both store pullers were in bad shape and, in my opinion, would have caused me more grief than it was worth trying to get them to work. So I head over to Amazon Prime and order my very own pulley. I used to make a living wrenching for a living in a previous chapter of my life. All of the big-name tools have been used and abused by me. OTC tools are high-quality in my opinion, and they can withstand the rigors of a busy auto shop. Sure, they're a little pricey for the average weekend wrencher, and you could get a better deal elsewhere. Will the less expensive tool, on the other hand, be able to withstand the abuse that your adolescent or grandchild will dish out? Of course, they won't tell you that they broke your cheap tool; instead, they'll wait until you need it again to find out. So it's back to the store for a new, inexpensive tool. When you could have saved yourself some time and money by investing in a high-quality tool now.
This tool will pay for itself the first time you use it if you decide to replace your power steering pump. By repairing it yourself, you get to keep the tools and save at least a thousand dollars. It's designed specifically for GM vehicles and works flawlessly. One set is for removing the pressed-on pulley, while the other is for reinstalling it. I expected it to be a difficult task, but it turned out to be quite simple. It's the pump, not the pulley, that's the difficult part. BTW, if the old pulley isn't damaged, you should consider repurposing it. The majority will not be damaged, so reusing it will save you a lot of money.
I bought this to replace a power steering pump pulley on my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4 in 2003. 0L V6. It took some time for it to latch onto the pulley. It came right off after that, and I was able to replace the pulley on the replacement pump with no problems. It's something I'd advise you to buy. It's not a tool you'll use every day, so don't spend too much money on a name brand to do the same job.
It was a good value for the money and performed admirably. It was simple to replace the power steering pump. The tool made it simple to remove the p/s pump pulley and replace it with the new pump. The kit's individual pieces appear to be well-made. The blow-molded case fits perfectly in the toolbox. This is my fifth OTC tool, and I'm pleased with everything I've purchased from them. Although I am not a professional and do not have easy access to a tool truck, the quality of OTC appears to be comparable to that of a tool truck.
It almost 100% worked on my truck for the power steering pulley job. Almost, but the replacer that comes with it might not be up to the task of final seating. It was just a tad off. As a result, the OTC 7005 replacer should also be considered. That one will allow it to go just a smidgeon further in terms of final fit. As always, your mileage may vary. However, I required it in my situation. However, it's a good set.
I purchased the kit in order to work on an older model GMC pickup truck. The pulley removal tool worked perfectly, but the installation tool malfunctioned before the pulley could be completely replaced. The 3/8- With more than a quarter inch to go before the pulley was properly installed, the 16 draw bolt became fatigued and eventually broke. There are no readily available replacements for this special bolt because it is unique. To finish the installation, I needed to find a tool that was similar to the OTC 7005 locally. The OTC 7005 has a much larger draw bolt that should be able to withstand multiple uses. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a separate removal tool and the OTC 7005 installation tool instead of the OTC 4530 kit.
This helped me remove a 30-year-old power steering pulley. It did its job, but it was damaged in the process. The center bolt head, which you turn to remove the pulley, began to round slightly. However, I am unsurprised. It was so difficult to get off that I initially thought I was doing something wrong.
