Is it possible that this does not affect charging in any way?

A slight decrease in voltage is evident at idle, but you can notice it when you rev slightly and the lights light There should be no problem with this and nothing to hold you up. Mine is powered by an aftermarket system with full amp'd capabilities. You can use a smaller top pulley to overspin the top too, if it is too much of an issue.

I'd buy it A few of the bolts came with it were not compatible. The quality was good, although I had to find a belt that was 59" in length.

It makes a difference to have the right parts! One of the bad things is that the bolts that came with the kit weren't the right size, but no big box store has plenty of bolts available
