So, on a 2004 Sienna with 225k miles, I installed this Gates hose on the lower side of the radiator. The previous hose was Dayco, and it leaked by the engine side/thermostat after about 15k miles. The Dayco hose was installed in place of the Toyota hose, which had begun to leak as well. The upper and lower sides of the hose were clamped with the original spring clamps. When looking at the end of the hose, you must be careful. The diameter of one end is greater than the other's. The larger side goes to the radiator, and the larger clamp should be used there, while the smaller side goes to the engine port, and the smaller of the two clamps should be used there. br>br>Someone gave the product three stars because the two ends were not the same size, which was for a good reason. Because, as I previously stated, the radiator port and the engine port are not the same size. I'm sure the Toyota genuine part, which costs $40, is better, but for the price, this Gates will suffice.
Purchased as a peace of mind item for a long trip. It's small, light, and easy to store, and it's great to have on hand in case of an emergency. If the need arises, I would purchase again.
end) level of quality Radiator hoses, in my opinion, are all about durability, which is defined by high-quality materials and minimal chemical impurities. I was interested in purchasing a Dayton because the advertiser provides more information, such as the fact that they are made of EPDM rubber and what ASTM standards they meet or exceed. On Amazon, a Dayton EPDM Sienna hose could not be found, but this Gates was. This is not the case with this Gates hose - None of that information is available.
I had trouble getting the clamp on because it appears to be thicker on the bottom. So, if you buy this, do yourself a favor and replace the hose clamps, at the very least on the radiator side; the engine side was fine.
It worked and fit perfectly, just like the original.
A radiator hose that was purchased aftermarket. So far ok.
I am familiar with and trust the Gates brand, and I was pleased with the product's quality when compared to OEM. br>br>It was thick and heavy as expected, but it was also simple to install for its intended purpose, just like the upper hose.
