For Volvo S70s, this is the right preheater hose

I discovered that this would not fit my Volvo S70 after visiting the Amazon site. After purchasing a 2 x 28 hose, which was too large and too short, I thought this might be an appropriate replacement for the 1 7/8 x 18 hose which was too tight and short. Thus, if you have a Volvo 850 or S or V70, this is the preheater hose you need. More importantly, you need there was a thermostat in the air box to regulate where air is drawn for the engine. When the car is cold, this hose is connected to a smaller hole in the air box to draw air into the engine. Warm air coming through this hose triggers the thermostat to change the flapper valve to a larger opening, which draws air through the large plastic intake near the radiator as the vehicle heats up. Unless you have this hose, your car will not run well after highway driving, especially when it's warmed up.
