What is the best way to mount it, in the dash or under the dash?

To make it easier to install the sensor, I cut into the return line to the trans with a 3/8" Tube OD Compression x 1/8" Female NPT Center Branch Tee Fitting Adapter.

What is the connection between the probe and the ATF line?

I used a 3/8" Tube OD Compression x 1/8" Female NPT Center Branch Tee Fitting Adapter to cut into the ATF line.

I think it would be a great addition to a Jeep to track the temperature of the transmission

This movement gave the Jeep owner the look he desired. A black rim around the meter would be an attractive option. I painted it, and it removed the glitz, allowing the gauge to be seen more clearly.

Excellent product with excellent quality (as expected from Auto Meter)! Auto Meter's usual high quality, with the added bonus of a "Jeep" print (which Jeep owners will love)

In addition, the kit comes with everything you need to get started: It comes with all of the hardware you'll need to install it on almost any vehicle, and the process is fairly straightforward. In addition, having the correct signature ("Trans Temp" on this particular gauge) on the background is extremely beneficial!.
