The filter had no markings on it that could help me determine which way the water was flowing. In response to my e-mail to Vix, they replied Inspect the ends of the filter by looking down inside them. Look inside that steel plate, if you have to, and it's on the inlet side. When I winterize my boat, this item is one of the items I purchase. The boat is a 2007 Moomba XLV Gravity Games with an Indmar 340 CAT ETX replacement engine. I change it every year since it is a direct replacement for the original engine. This product does what it says.
I couldn't wear it.
