The finish on this product is good for the price, but the dipstick tube is not the same as the original and is too large to fit in the engine; when compared to my old version, the tube was smaller before the interference fit was resolved. It was too big to fit into the engine, and it didn't have the right bend to clear the headers. This tube will not fit the original dipstick, which is a disappointment. However, I am confident that this tube will work in some situations. I just wanted something delivered to my door quickly and for a reasonable price.
I started putting this one in after removing the insert from my old disptick oil tube from the block. It didn't take long, and it didn't require a lot of tweaking. On my Olds 350, I also have Hedman shorty headers. I was able to gently knock the tube into the block after feeding it down to the hole. I can now check my oil without worrying about whether or not the tube will come loose from the block!.
When nothing else seemed to be working, I turned to number seven. In my 1990 Brougham, I broke the dipstick tube. It has a 350 chevy engine, and the part for that engine was too short and straight. This one appeared to be a good fit, and it certainly is. It's not perfect; it's a little more difficult to reach, and the space between the full and add marks is too small for me, but I'm satisfied because it worked.
I had to file down the insert ring to seat in the crate hole because it wasn't stock fit. Unless you want to break the tube in half by hammering away at it.
THIS WAS BUYED FOR MY CAR.
The upper ring had to be ground down to fit snugly in the block, but it looks great. Although the dipstick handle is smaller than the original, it still functions well.
However, I had to file down the flare where it enters the block because it wouldn't fit otherwise. I made a comparison between the fl and the fl. I knew it was too big because of the size with the old stick first. The entire line is also a little lower than the original stick.
It was not a good investment. It was rusted and too short for my 58-year-old vehicle.
