Questions & Answers

Will this fit a 1979 Ford F150 with a 400 engine that has been modified?

No, the 400 modified engine does not have a front sump oil pan.

Is this suitable for a 360/390 FE Ford with a deep oil pan?

I'm not sure, it says for a small block Ford car if my memory serves me correctly, but it fit my Bronco even though it didn't come out in the right spot and it gives a reliable reading. However, I'm not sure where the dipstick is on a 390, but it's only $30. If I recall correctly, you'll only be out a few dollars if it doesn't. I couldn't find any aftermarket dipsticks or tubes, and the factory one was out of production, so I bought that one in the hopes that it would fit.

Would this be a good fit for the three? 8 v6?

No, it's designed to work with the 302 engine.

Selected User Reviews For Ford Racing M6750C303 Engine Oil Dipstick/Tube

a small adjustment to make it fit Dipstick is a fairly simple concept - If the engine is in the car, the angle of installation can be awkward, and it's difficult to get enough purchase on it to really force-fit it
4/5

Because it's curved, make it fit the way it's supposed to. I filed a total of 0. 010" off the OD, 400 grit sanding, and a drop of oil, and it slid right in. A portion of the mounting bracket had to be trimmed to clear a (aftermarket) header primary tube - There's no need to be concerned.

Overall, it looks and feels good
4/5

This is the OEM 5 in its most basic form. Dipstick with a chrome finish, size 0 fox. It would have been better if they had simply painted it. br>Because of the chrome, fully inserting it into the block was extremely difficult. Either that, or this Made in China version isn't a perfect match for the original's diameter. The fit on the engine with factory fox headers was fine once they were driven in place (and I don't mean gently).

The length and fit are perfect, but there are some issues with the block fitting
3/5

It's the correct dimensions; the only problem is that the chrome plating on where it goes into the block is too thick; I tried tapping it in with a long screwdriver and hammer right on the collar and it wouldn't budge; I took a flap disc to it and it popped right in.

It looks great, but it needed to be adjusted to fit a total of five people
5/5

Even though it was "used," the 0L Fox engine was in excellent condition. It was necessary for me to pound sand the pilot to make it fit in my stock block It worked out well with patience and power tools - To seal it, I used a tiny amount of black RTV.

The other reviews are correct; the tube's diameter is too large for the hole, as stated in the other reviews
3/5

I installed a drill and adjusted the size with a fie.

Dipstick
5/5

I had to trim the chrome off the end, just like everyone else, so it would fit in the hole in the block, but other than that there were no issues.
