The flywheel and crankshaft are connected with these bolts. After removing the flywheel for resurfacing on my '74 Jeep CJ 5, I decided to replace the factory flywheel bolts. The final torque specification is 100-pound-feet-pounds-feet Torqueing in a pattern over three passes resulted in 110 foot pounds of torque. The heads on these bolts could only withstand about 70 foot pounds of torque before rounding off and failing. The bolt heads are too thin to begin with, so there is very little bolt head in the socket, and they are made of a "hardened alloy. " " The wrong kind, to be sure; I used a six-point socket, which has the most contact with the bolt head and the least chance of rounding it. These bolts have a half-inch diameter and should be strong enough to handle the recommended torque. That isn't the case. At 105 foot pounds of torque, I had no trouble reusing the original all-steel bolts. When comparing the weight of these bolts to the originals, it's clear that they're not nearly as strong. This is my first, and most likely final, encounter with Mr Gasket products. Half-inch flywheel bolts are difficult to come by these days, but you can always buy half-inch diameter grade eight bolts in the correct length and grind the bolt heads down to match the originals if clearance is required. I should also mention that these bolts are about a quarter inch or more too long, with only a thousandth or two of an inch of clearance after passing through the flywheel before coming into contact with the engine block. To make them work, I would have had to remove about an eighth of an inch from the length. They're listed as a match for my 4 in the wrong category. 2 liters (258 cubic inches) Do not purchase for this application a line six cylinder engine.

The bolts are adequate, but they are 1/4" too long for a 1980 Jeep CJ

The bolts are fine, but they are 1/4" too long for the 1980 Jeep CJ 258 I-D. Application of six flywheels. It was not possible to use it. The inspection cover was obstructed by the longer thread length, and the engine block was too close.

As with all Mr Gasket bolts, this is a fantastic product

This model of bolts was recommended for my 94 Jeep Wrangler flywheel (I had two stripped flywheel bolts from attempting to use the originals) but they are simply too long for my project. I could have cut them down, but I went ahead and ordered Mopar original bolts just to be safe. br>However, the product is of good quality; unfortunately, I was unable to use it.
