I would not worry about it, my son is 7 years old and wears a size 8, so he will still be able to use them for another year or two. Because these are so tiny around the waist, I would suggest that you consider an xs adult size. It's my pleasure, I hope that helped a bit.
A good pair of chaps should fit well on your thighs before you purchase them.
The back of the haps has lace, and you can adjust these to the size of your waist, and the belt has lots of adjustments. The majority of the chaps are free-length. If your height is longer than the extra length, you can trim it off. You should measure the circumference of your legs at the biggest part and then refer to the size chart when ordering chaps.
The size I bought for my son was large. Despite their size 6, the trousers fit snugly after I fold them up and snap shut. The belt uses the last place, but he has a lot of " grow space" and room for layers on chilly rides.

I put it in the closet after the shipment arrived since it was a gift for my daughter and I didn't want her to discover To cut a long story short, when I went to wrap it, I realized that the bottom button for the chaps is missing and had to order a replacement now. It won't arrive.
The pants are too long for my daughter, so I fold them up under and snap the buttons on the bottom. There is a lot of room for growth.
