Excellent performance on the street. On my three DL650 bikes, I've used all of the Anakee tires. On various Anakee models, I have logged over 100,000 miles. I preferred the tread pattern of the Anakee2 over the Anakee3, so I was pleased to see the Adventure and Wild options. To deal with mud season, which the Anakee3 tires couldn't handle well, I switched to TKC80 front and rear tires this spring. I'll eventually replace my aging TKC80 tires with the Anakee Wild. Before moving to a location where I can't ride in the winter, I used the TKC80s tires as my winter tire. br>br>After mounting the Adventure tire, I commuted for a few weeks before embarking on an 8-day, 3500-mile tour. There are 1000 miles of highway (each way) and a lot of NC along the way. The roads in West Virginia are winding. Out of Thurmond, West Virginia, there is a 20-mile dirt road that takes you over 1. 5" stone. At highway speeds, the Adventures tires are slightly louder than Anakee3 tires, but it's difficult to tell the difference with ear plugs. On twisty roads, I believe the Adventures will be more sticky than the Anakee3. I haven't had them slide yet, but the Anakee3's traction limits were very predictable, which I liked. It began to slide, and the traction was very linear and predictable. I have yet to see how the Adventure loses traction on a paved surface. br>br>So far, very nice tires for a VStrom and 80/20. br>br>On gravel, it's very predictable and you can slide out the back nicely with a hearty twist of the wrist. br>br>I'm hoping the traction on the Adventure behaves like the Anakee3 and isn't an all or nothing tire. br>br>I'm hoping the traction on the Adventure behaves like the Anake br>br>I also had the misfortune of having the opportunity to plug my rear tire, as a screw in the center of my rear tire was discovered during our gas stop in Cherokee, NC, just before getting on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The screw was removed, the hole was reamed out, and a plug was inserted. I went to the gas station and bought some new glue, as well as using their air pump to inflate my tire. I came to a halt on the Blue Ridge to check the pressure and let out some air (air temperatures were in the 90s). I had almost forgotten about it by the end of the day. Then we drove 1000 miles on a plugged highway back to our house. I'm going to order a new tire right now, but for the summer, I'll be commuting on the plugged tire.
This set of tires is incredible. I used to run both the front and back anakee wilds, and I always felt like I could take on any challenge. The anakee adventures, on the other hand, are better for getting you to your destination on the road. They don't rumble or vibrate as much as they used to. I haven't tried the anakee adventure up front because I have to travel through a lot of mud and dirt to get home and I prefer having the front tire feel planted, so I prefer running wild in the front and the adventure in the back. It wasn't a cheap tire, but it lasted a lot longer than the wilds. I'm going to buy more.
It appears to be a good all-around 80/20 tire, as it performs admirably on a gravel road and when leaned over at the racetrack. On the back of my VFR1200X, I'll most likely keep these for a while.
I found exactly what I was looking for. Excellent grip.
