These brackets are well-made and sturdy. Much nicer than the black sheetmetal type that I had purchased before discovering these. The sheetmetal type does not conform well to the forks, and the way they clamp onto the forks is unsatisfactory. These were supposed to fit my 41mm fork tubes, but they didn't quite fit. It took a lot of force to get them close enough together for the screws to go in. So, instead of bolting the flat section to the outside of the clamps, I installed it between the two clamp halves, which relieved some of the stress on the rear screws. As another reviewer pointed out, be very careful not to cross the line. Because this aluminum is fairly soft, do not overtighten the screws. Instead of relying solely on the soft aluminum threads, the design could be improved by installing stainless helicons in the clamp holes. Another piece of advice for would-be installers is as follows: If the clamps are installed too high on the fork tubes, the back ends of the clamps will contact the frame when the forks are fully extended. The wheel must be turned in a locked position. The top clamp was installed 3 inches below the top of the triple tree, which allowed me to turn the wheel to full lock in both directions without making contact with the frame. br>The only other minor criticism is that the brackets could be slightly longer, because when I tried to turn the wheel to either side, the back of the headlight made contact with a hard point on the frame, which was the mounting point for the support bracket that supported the wheel. With a Saws-All, I was able to remove the hard point from the frame. all, which was a difficult operation that went off without a hitch.
Excellent craftsmanship. I'm using these headlight Mounts to attach lower wind deflectors instead of the "overpriced fork Mounts. " In addition, instead of overpriced plexiglass strips, polished checker plate was used. It was successful and it looks fantastic.
For a good look, blend right in. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> br>br>Two years later, they've corroded beyond recognition. I'm going to have to get some new ones.
I'll be returning this for a refund soon because it's not the full headlight bracket as pictured, but only two ring clamps.
They were, unfortunately, the wrong size, measuring 39 to 41mm. 35mm was what I required.
It didn't fit because it was the wrong size.
