iJDMTOY Black Chrome Finish Red LED 3rd Brake Light Assy Compatible With 2014/15-up MINI Cooper F54 F55 F56 OEM Fit High Mount Third Brake Light Kit

When I first connected the light to my car, it appeared to be well-made and functional. However, it is impossible to keep it permanently connected to the wiring because, starting in 2005, Mini changed the connection. br>br>According to my research, the third brake light has a separate wiring harness that connects the car's wiring and the third brake light's wiring in models from 2004 and below. There are clips on both ends of this wiring harness, allowing the wiring harness to be disconnected from the car's wiring as well as the third brake light. This wiring harness is required to connect the iJDMTOY's brake light to the vehicle's wiring; otherwise, as I will explain later, it will not stay connected. EDIT: br>br> I've uploaded a few photos of the re-modeling process. Instead of using a different connector, MINI soldered the wires to the circuit board. br>br>From 2005 onwards, Mini removed one of the wiring harness clips and soldered the wires to the OEM third brake light, combining the wiring harness and third brake light into one unit. The car's wiring is connected to the other end of the wiring harness (with the clip). The issue is that if you replace the third brake light with an iJDMTOY third brake light and try to push the car's clip into the iJDMTOY third brake light, it will not stay in place and will fall off if you try to install the third brake light on the car. You can use tape now, but who knows if it will hold because the car's wiring forces the connection to bend and become parallel with the third brake light, whereas the connection part of iJDMTOY's third brake light sticks straight out, perpendicular to the light. br>br>As a result, check your connection before ordering any aftermarket light. If the wires are soldered to the brake light's circuit board, you may be out of luck and will need to order a brake light with the wiring harness soldered on it, as I did.

Be aware that the connector on the back of the light is incompatible with the light's extension cable or the Mini's connector. They don't fit together as easily as they should. As a result, the connector will easily fall apart. The connection is depicted in two photographs. The extension cable that came with the light is black and red in color. The mini cooper cable comes in brown and black colors. Both do not fit properly into the white connector on the back of the light, as can be seen. They jam in between the white tab and the pins by pushing it over. Both connectors do not fully seat in the bottom and fall out easily. You'd be putting the light in and hoping the connector didn't fall out while driving, and that light is a pain to take out and replace. With soldering and heat shrink, I was able to permanently attach the extensin to the light. The blue end of the extension cable snaps into place on the mni cooper conector, and the extra length is useful when reinstalling. br>Tech support picked up the phone, which was nice, but they were of no assistance. when they tested it, it worked, they said. br>Anyway, I'm confident that after the change, the connection will say put. But there's no way it'll stay where it's supposed to be as shipped, designed, and tested. My two cents, br>br>.

Now for the bad news (or perhaps just bad for me, but fine for you). I have a VIS real carbon fiber hatch on my Cooper, and despite the factory and last aftermarket lights fitting perfectly, I had to modify my hatch to fit this because the mounting holes on the hatch and the screw holes on the light don't line up. The lens quality, on the other hand, really piqued my interest, so I decided to modify the hatch in order to keep it. Note that if you need to modify your hatch to fit this unit, simply drill new holes about an eighth of an inch away from the existing holes and it will work perfectly.

I read a lot of reviews that said the electrical connectors were difficult to connect, but I had no issues. The connection is a tight fit, but it should be and can be snapped together by hand. I installed this on my 2009 Cooper S R56 and had no problems fitting it (3 minutes and 2 screwdrivers), nor did I have any issues with the dash warning lights not recognizing the part. I can't guarantee that the bulbs will last, but if they don't, I'll update my review. I would buy this part again because it was half the price of an OEM part.

It took a little longer to set up than a standard plug-and-play system. I believe it's because it's for a vehicle that costs between 2000 and 3000 dollars. 2006, and there was an upgrade in 2004, so maybe the plug after that was different? br>In any case, so far so good; it performs as expected and is slightly brighter than stock. It's also a lot less expensive!.

The quality is poor. Because it does not completely cover the OEM's footprint (which is smaller), expect an aftermarket appearance. Water will find its way into the cabin if the gasket does not fit perfectly. Because the pin connections are loose, you'll need to use tape or another method to keep them from falling apart. I'm not going to buy anything else.

Due to faulty third brake lights, I failed my safety test. As a result, I placed an order for this to take its place. br>The electric connector isn't exactly like the original, but the kit includes pin connectors as a simple workaround that makes installation much easier. br>The light is bright and direct, and the case warps all electronics in a way that the originals don't (which is why my lights failed). br>I'd strongly suggest this to anyone whose mini third brake light has failed and who wants to replace it on their own.

The screw holes were not perfectly aligned, but they were close enough. With a little jiggling, I was able to make it work. It's bright and cheerful! Installing it was a breeze. I was initially concerned because, despite the fact that the packaging appeared to be new and there was protective plastic over the actual panel of the bulbs, I was concerned. When I got it, the backside was filthy. br>It's been a week since I installed the system- It appears to be attractive.
