With the stock belt, the pulls would squeal and smoke a bit on hard pulls and in rocky sections, but this belt has handled the desert heat and long, heavy pulls to 10,000 feet without a problem (and my rig is loaded with parts and hunting equipment). Due to the fact that I dislike working on my UTV when I could be shooting, I bought this belt. The fact it is half the price of the OEM belt made it a no-brainer! As of now, my belt has traveled about 1500 miles and I just pulled my clutch apart to service the one-way It looks like it's brand new and does what it claims to do. It would be my first choice to purchase this belt again.
I carry it with me at all times on my 2007 CanAm Outlander 800. The belt is of similar quality to the stock BRP belt and is exactly the same length. I haven't installed it yet, but compared it to the stock belt. It is a great price for a spare given that I have no idea how long the device will last.
I took off the belt cover thinking the clutch weights were incorrect, but the belt is missing a big chunk on both the inside and outside.
I was driving a test car in about 20 minutes. Getting off the ground was a bit of a slip. For maximum belt life, make sure you break in your belt. I have traveled 30 miles so far and the belt is holding up quite well.
In my 08 Renegade 800 that I had in stock, the sidewalls looked uneven and the bike bucked and bumped with that belt on Neither Gates nor the stock belt had any problems. This belt should be fine, but be aware that dayco belts may not perform equally well.
Waste of time. My belt lasted for less than ten hours, and I ended up using it. I bought it as a backup. In a nutshell, it shredded itself utterly. You can save yourself a lot of headaches by ordering a quality belt. (Definitely not a Gates belt!) See picture. The ball of garbage that sits atop the gates belt is the gates belt.
As soon as I travel a few more miles, I'll update you. My friends and I were very pleased with the way it went on and how good it looked.
It broke in nicely and I will let you know if there are any problems. It looks as beefy as the one that came with it, so I don't expect it to have any.
