Does the case saver you refer to come from an aftermarket source? There is no metal insert (case saver) underneath the sprocket guard cover on OEM bikes for which this part is designed to fit. intended to perform exactly the same function as the OEM component it replaces, by itself, without the need for “case savers”.

I love the price and I love the fit and look of it. The mud and dirt would be more easily absorbed by the wet material.
I didn't realize it was aluminum but it worked fine.
It was plastic. I didn't realize it. There is no way to truly protect the case with it.
This was a good fit for me. I also had the screws with the 2001 Yamaha YZ125.
I like the fit and the appearance. The price was excellent as well.
