Questions & Answers
They are 2x43" and it says so right next to the picture! They're about 3 to 4 inches long when retracted! My main issue with them is that the spring that retracts them is short-lived, lasting only a few weeks depending on how frequently you immerse them in water. I'm currently working on my third set. I only know this because I dismantled the first set and discovered a rusted spring. Because I used silicone spray in the spring compartment, the second set lasted a little longer. Make sure these are oiled on a regular basis! Best of luck, and I hope this information is useful!
The label on the package clearly states that it was made in China. I wish I had known about this before now.
Larger is, in my opinion, preferable.
Yes, there is a tab below the ratchet that, when depressed, retracts the strap; however, the strap must be unhooked for this to occur. This is a fantastic trailer accessory.

For the most part, the item works as it should, but the retraction sprin needs to be stronger or wound one or two more times from the factory. Normally, there are 8-10 leaves. When trying to get them to retract all the way, I have 10 inches hanging loose, and I'm crouching down and using both hands to assist it.
Depending on where you look on the page, this product is described as stainless steel or brass. Stainless steel is the product number 2060266. The item I received has a zinc coating. I expected more for the price, but the page description at the time of this review was incorrect. Brass transom straps are not available from Fulton.
It's simple to set up, operate, and keeps the boat secure. My boat and trailer came loose from my truck a few days after I installed these (coupler issue), and the boat refused to move. I was glad I was wearing them!.
I decided to replace my tires after 7 years because they were missing lubricating components. I bought these a month or so ago and was just about to install them when I discovered the size 18 poly nut was missing! As a result, I was only able to put in one! Total setback, and I'm irritated that I have to go to the hardware store to get a replacement!.
I had to return the first set because it didn't come with mounting nuts and bolts, and the distributor claimed they didn't have replacements? I have only used the product once and it appears to work as advertised, but the distributor clearly has some quality control issues, so I would not recommend. The second set came with only one nut and bolt for installation, so instead of returning the second set, I purchased a nut and bolt.
It is well-made. Installing it was a breeze. Before installing the bolts and nuts, I checked for burrs with a tap and die (metric). If you're going to use an anti-virus program, make sure to use one that's To avoid galling, apply lubricant to the nuts and install them slowly. Stop them if they begin to bind. I also sprayed the spring housing with a generous amount of Boshield T9 to help prevent corrosion and ensure that they last a long time.
However, make certain to purchase the bracket kit, as it is not included.
I'm in possession of a powder-type substance. My 2016 Yamaha 242X boat came with a coated Shore Lander trailer. This was an exact match for the factory-installed ratchet straps. It was a simple bolt-on replacement, and now I have a spare in case the first one fails. I would strongly suggest it.
