For the Honda 2000i, this is ideal. You remove the two screws that hold the carburetor in place and replace them with the same screws that hold this in place. When the motor is running, it displays the RPM, and when the motor is turned off, it displays the hours. Mine is fantastic for staying on top of maintenance.
No, there is no way to change or reset the accumulated hours displayed on the meter; however, you could install it on another engine, such as a car, and run it until the hour meter reaches the desired starting hour reading.
It's been just over a year since I got mine. I've had a different model on my generator for the past five years and it's still going strong. I'm guessing it'd last at least as long as a watch battery. Battery life is unaffected by the amount of time the machine is used.
These can't be turned back on. However, they perform admirably, especially considering the low price, and once properly installed, they begin to count down the hours and minutes with no way to reset them. My recommendation is to purchase a few extras and replace them if necessary. You simply cannot beat the price.

I bought it for my Honda eu2000i generator, which doesn't have an hour meter. Starting at the boot, five wraps around the spark plug wire make it easy to fish the wire through to the meter mounted to the top of the case near the handle (using provided screws). When the generator was turned on, the excess wire was cut away, and it began to function. Measures tenths of an hour (one tenth = 6 minutes) and whole hours, which is necessary for keeping track of when the oil needs to be changed. The only issue that will most likely arise is the non-availability of resources. a battery that can be replaced When it's gone, it's time to get a new one. There's no way of knowing how long the battery will last.
My Docooler tach/hour meter, which I bought for my new Honda EU 2000i generator, only worked for about 30 seconds before dying. I didn't need a tachometer for the generator, so I ordered this hour meter instead. It appears to be more solidly constructed than the tach/hour meter from the outside. The case is more durable and attractively colored. The packaging is a blister pack rather than a cheap little box, and the back has clear instructions. br>br>It keeps a running hour total in tenths of an hour, which can be seen after the engine has been turned off. I'm hoping this is a dependable device!.
My Honda EU2000 generator was hooked up to it. All you have to do now is coil the wire around the spark plug wire connection. It detects that the engine is running and starts the clock, which is indicated by the hour glass symbol flashing. every 6 minutes is the same. It's one o'clock. I mounted it on the generator with double-sided mounting tape (not included). For the price, it's fantastic!.
On my Generac power washer, I installed one. This is a fantastic solution. One went on my Generac power washer a year ago, and the other went on my Ariens log splitter two weeks ago. Both are fantastic! I referred to the instructions as well as the power washer job when I installed the newer one on the log splitter and noticed that it had not been looped around the spark plug wire enough times. I'm not sure if this had an impact on its accuracy. The problem was resolved with the addition of a new zip tie.
Two small screws are included in the meter. I bought this for an inverter generator that I use for camping and other activities, and I needed a way to keep track of hours so that I could keep up with maintenance, etc. It's worked out well so far. Wrapping the cable around the spark plug wire was difficult, but once completed, I routed up, drilled a 1/8" hole through the spark plug access panel, and double-sided taped the meter to the outside, snipped the extra wire length, and was done. I'd recommend it because it worked right away. br>br>The meter includes two small screws but no tape.
It was easy to set up and has been running smoothly for several months. If anything changes, I'll make a new review. When compared to purchasing the Toro OEM hour meter that was recommended for my zero turn Timecutter mower, this is a HUGE savings.
They take only 5 minutes to install on any motor and work perfectly. These things are awesomebr>5 minute installation on any motor and they work greatbr>Have them on dirtbikes, lawnmowers, and a log splitterbr>Very simple method of tracking engine hours for oil service time periodsbr>.
This is what I'm going to put on my Toro lawn mower. Toro is looking for $60 for their meter. The installation was simple, and I mounted the unit with double-sided tape. Due to the sealed battery, which will eventually fail, I reduced the rating to four stars.
