Because it works with tens of thousands of people, To generate 80V DC, your generator must have a DC output. If you don't have a 120V AC to 12V DC transformer, you'll need one to convert your AC voltage to the DC that this meter requires.
I'm not sure if I'm going to use 12 DC.
I've purchased the same meters on multiple occasions. Yes, they were all wearing a plastic lens cover.

Had to return because the meter had hours on it, and I discovered that "vibrating" the meter rotated the hours. hummmm! When installing on a generator, this is not a good idea.
I put my watch to the test for the first hour while mowing the lawn, and it worked perfectly. It worked until 9 a. m. , when it suddenly stopped. br>br>I double-checked the wires and made sure I had power. I was. Despite the fact that I have no wiring or power issues, the meter is still not working after 9 hours. br>br>This fit perfectly on my IH 782 Cub Cadet. It was simple to connect and worked for 9 hours. br>br>I'm not sure if I got a bad one or if the quality of these isn't up to the bumps and sudden stops and starts of a riding mower. br>br> br>br>Recent changes: br>br> They are sending me another unit to replace this one because of their excellent customer service. That means a lot to me. My rating has been changed to a five star rating.
The ring that holds them together is only designed to hold the thinnest of materials, such as sheet metal. My boat's fibreglass dash would not work with this product. They could use a small backlight as well, but this isn't a deal breaker. They're a good way to keep track of hours for the price.
Installation is a breeze. It has a nice appearance and performs admirably. I'm assuming it's correct. However, I did not use a watch to verify it. I only wish it came in white, but we'll see how well it holds up. As the old one in the second photo shows, the marine environment is harsh on electronics.
When it was first installed, it only worked for 10 minutes before dying. Instead of glass, the face is made of thin plastic. I could break the mounting clip with a sneeze because it's made of thin plastic. br>Don't waste your time with this one, or any of the others that are similar but have different names.
I started the engine and let it run for 6 minutes (0. 1hrs). It appears to be of good quality and is simple to install; we'll see how long it lasts.
This will allow me to know when it's time for maintenance, oil changes, and so on. It's very simple to connect to the ignition and it works exactly as it should. It's a simple concept that's well-built and small enough to be unobtrusive.
