Questions & Answers
The tachometer has its own battery and does not rely on the vehicle's electronics to function. So I'm speculating, speculating, speculating that it will work.
Yes, it will happen.
Yes, the induction wire can be cut to reduce its length or joined to another wire to increase its length (up to 100 meters), with no effect on performance.

You can buy it with confidence. I bought it for my twin-cylinder Honda Garden Tractor because it didn't have a tachometer or an hour meter, and I wanted to keep track of the run time as well as RPMs while running attachments. The most surprising aspect was how precise the RPMs are. I connected a mechanical tach to it, tested it, and then installed it, and it was within 10rpm. as close to the real thing as one can get. I was skeptical because the tachometer is inductive, meaning that the wire is wrapped around the spark plug cable. The only drawback is that there are no clear instructions or materials to assist in keeping the induction wire wrapped around the spark plug cable. It simply states that you must wrap it around the wire 5 times. 6 x firmly To keep it tightly wrapped, I used about four different zip ties. It's ugly, but it'll suffice for the time being. br>br>But don't let that stop you from buying it; I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it. br>br>In general, setup is simple. They provide hardware that can be installed in two ways.
1. the use of velcrobr>2. the use of velcrobr> by drilling two small holes and securing them with the provided screws Both installations are attractive, and neither has an impact on performance.
Chainsaw tuning is made easy thanks to the maximum reading mode, bright display, and water-resistant housing. It matches the performance of a more expensive tachometer. When I'm not using it, I remove the lithium battery to keep it ready to use. If you're looking for a reliable, low-cost two-way communication system, look no further. This is it: a stroke tachometer that keeps track of your maximum revs. I'm really pleased.
This tachometer worked outside of the case that covers the spark plug and air cleaner on my Husqvarna 350 chainsaw. It was unnecessary for me to wrap the wire around the spark plug cable. br>I noticed another reviewer had said something similar, so I gave it a shot and was able to see the idle and high torque RPMs. br>While performing the tune-up, I turned on the LED light to keep it on at all times. up/adjustments to make it easier to see the RPM numbers br>To turn off the tachometer, hold down the MENU and SET buttons at the same time until the display reads OFF, then release the buttons. br>This is an excellent tool for checking my chainsaw's RPMs and properly setting the Low and High speed screws. br>In addition, the instructions are simple to follow. br>I'm glad I bought this tachometer; it'll come in handy with all of my small engines in the future.
When I bought it, I had no idea how to put it together, so I'm guessing there are others who are in the same boat as me. It's a fairly straightforward procedure. The head unit is simply mounted with velcro or zip ties (or a nice 3d printed mount to attach to a handlebar on a minibike, as I did) - there is a battery and a single induction/signal wire. The signal wire should then be wrapped around your spark plug wire (any will do). It came pre-configured for a single-cylinder engine and worked fine with the gx200 I was testing. However, thanks to a relatively simple menu interface, it works for a wide range of configurations. br>br>For a minibike I'm building, this will serve as the primary tachometer. I can't say whether it's accurate just yet because I'm still working on it. If I haven't returned to update this review with a negative spin in a few months, then it's probably fine. br>br>If you're more concerned with hours versus RPMs, it's just another option on the menu that appears to work automatically based on whether a spark is detected.
Three chainsaws were tuned using this method. A Husqvarna 142e, a Poulan Pro PP4218AVX, and a 1979 Stihl 032 AV with points and condenser were the machines in question. I tuned them by ear, then double-checked my settings with this. I was aiming for a low score of 3,000 and a high score of 13,000 points. It confirmed that my low-end settings were about right (I was a little over 3000, but the chain wasn't moving, so the clutch wasn't engaged) and that my high-end settings were a little low. By slightly leaning out the H screw on the carbs, I was able to increase the high end RPMs. This allows me to set the high end slightly higher than I would have done by ear while staying below the maximum rated RPM of my saw. Your saws and ears will tell you where they run best, but this is a handy, low-cost tool for detecting when you're leaning out the saw too far. I didn't need to wrap the wire around the spark plug wire; instead, I was able to get good readings by simply laying it against the top cover.
If you're using a single cylinder, follow the instructions. br>The only drawback is that it doesn't turn off on its own; you have to press both buttons at the same time to turn it off. br>It claims to be self-powered, but it requires a battery that they provide. br>So far, it's working great.
Much faster response time than the cheaper one that came with the kit, appears to be accurate, and doesn't require wire wrapping, at least on my saws; I can just hold it near the plug and get a consistent reading. I've only used it twice so far, so time will tell if it's reliable, but for now, I'm pleased with my purchase.
It's set up to fire a single cylinder every revolution, and it appears to be very precise. I'd say it's consistent and doesn't change dramatically. It's a good size that makes it simple to read. The only minor quibble I have is with the navigation and application setup, but that could just be me. 😉. This is something I would recommend.
