Questions & Answers

What is the light grey color of this dash cover?

model does come in only one shade of gray, however it is compatible with other shades of gray if you already have the factory gray.

The cover is just a placeholder, isn't it? Would it just be a matter of clamping it over the Is the entire dashboard removable or can I remove just the buttons?

be sure to read the information in the listing, there is a lot of detail in there about how the cover works, it does not replace your dashboard (cannot be used as a replacement).

Is this tan color the same as the original factory color on the 1997 GMC Sierrasle K1500?

Yes, this color is matched according to the original factory color, but due to the fact that these trucks are nearly 20 years old, we cannot guarantee an exact color Depending on what the cover is supposed to look like, the dash may be lighter or darker than what you expect. I love the look, the fit is perfect, and the installation went smoothly
5/5

It had 300k miles on the 98 Chevy Silverado K1500, and the dash had a couple of cracks. The product DashSkin worked for me when I found it while searching for something to cover them. I decided to go ahead and try it after reading reviews. It was easy to install. I did a dry fit, as others have suggested, so I could see how it would fit and how it would look. I was amazed at how it fits exactly over the existing dash and how it looks terrific. Following the installation instructions to the letter, I filled both tubes with every ounce of silicone. For the DashSkin weights, I used the foam packing between the sides and doors, as well as whatever else I had on hand. The junk I had weighing it down was removed by leaving it to sit overnight. Perfect. Color is slightly different, but I don't expect anyone else but me to notice the difference (hey, its 21 years old. ) unless you know there is a replacement skin over the dash. My screws are now in place after making holes for them as other commenters suggested. This is a highly recommended book.

It looks like it was just made
5/5

I had Swiss cheese on the dash of my 98 Chevy Suburban. Large holes in the dash were left by pieces of the dash that had broken free. Dash skin came in tan and the color is a pretty good match to the truck's 20-year-old finish. Having said that, I don't know how well it would work without some structure to the original dash. In order to reassemble the dash, I used a "plastic welding" kit from HF. My method for tacking the dash together involved melting the mesh strips across the dash and the dash pieces, using the soldering iron to tack it all together. The pieces all fit together like a As soon as the dash had been thoroughly repaired, I installed the dash cap as directed by the A small hole was drilled in the dash cap for each of the three screws holding the original dash in position. I was able to remove them later if I needed to. My first step was to heat up the silicone sealant and apply a bead of it In order to keep it in place, I used rice bags and cardboards. In some corners I wedged the caps in place with the caps from ballpoint pens. There is nothing wrong with the way it looks and fits. As you can see, the dash cap is a bit raised near the edge of the windscreen because I should have taken more care when holding it down. Long-term, do you think all of this will hold together? There is no way to tell. It will have been a great solution if it does.

This is the best solution available, color match is perfect, everything required for double din installation is available
3/5

There was a reason that I wasn't able to give this 5 stars, and that had to do with its price and fit. Overall, it looks great on the dash except for the part that covers the bottom of the dash, right between the glove box and dash bezel, where it wouldn't cooperate, sticks out pretty badly and is very visable from the passenger side. Had it not been for the lack of options to replace dashes in these trucks and the improvement in the quality of my very badly cracked dash, I would have given it a 1 Star rating. The price (that was increased $30 in two years) is insulting for what it is very thin (I know that it wasn't cheap to develop) and how long it will last, considering that it is thinner than the already crumbling After being installed for 3 weeks, it is still holding as well as it did the day after installation I added another syringe of JB weld epoxy to the adhesive to make sure it would stay in place. was also sold with a kit that included adhesive tubes, a wiring harness, the antenna adapter and an install kit. Although I already have a double din installed, I didn't know it came with anything other than the bezel. I had no idea that it came with anything other than the bezel. This would've been a great option to leave out to reduce the cost. After all, I would buy it again, but only because the only choice was to buy a used dash and swap it, then hope it wasn't going to crack. With these trucks it's more of "when" it is going to break rather than "if". In the unlikely event I get 5 If you get 10 years of it, then it would be well worth the money, and it would be much superior to a rattling cracked It may have made sense to go a different route if I had smaller cracks, but the center of my dashboard basically disintegrated and was not structurally sound. Sorry for the long review, but I was trying to be as thorough as possible.

I really like the idea of a new dash instead! I was able to install this skin in no time at all! To ensure the fit, I checked before gluing it in and found the fuse panel door had to be removed before I could glue in

trouble getting it to stick around the bottom of the airbag in the passenger seat. In the end, I used the packing foam from the box in the door jams and through the glove box to provide pressure during the drying period. I also placed 30lbs of rice in the bag on top to make sure everything stayed in place during the drying period. I am amazed at how well it turned out. Your dashboard truly looks like a new one. Well done! In 20 minutes, I had the software up and running.

Take the time to prepare! On the dash of my '98 Chevy Cheyenne, everything was ruined
5/5

To create the surface that I needed, I used the broken pieces of my dash, which are the only components that adhere to the skin on the perimeter. With duct tape and a heat gun, you can hold it together for sure. I put on the skin and it was a tight fit, so after driving around and letting the sun work its magic, I decided to remove it and then apply a fresh skin. Make sure the surface is CLEAN and DRY before you do this. I have not noticed any rattles so far. I thought it was a good deal for $200 There is no sign of wear or tear on my interior. Really close to the original color Until you compare it to the exact match, you will not know if it's not exactly the same.

I am in love with this product! It can be installed very easily. I would say 45 minutes or so. Please read the tips on this site and in directions so that you can do your homework. There is no better friend than Gorilla Tape, and you will be so glad you did. It was thought we got a new dash by a mechanic friend. It would have been great if we had taken pictures to see how different it is. The man I married was initially skeptic, but he is now amazed and impressed. I am so glad I found DASHSKIN! Thanks for such a great product!.

I love it
5/5

I thought this was amazing. It fitted my truck like a glove and fixed my crumbling old dashboard in no time. It was almost impossible to find a dash The pieces left behind were able to be screwed down and applied to the new dash so that it would adhere. On top of the dash, I sat books and weights in order to weight it down and make it adhere better and more It looks like it was just bought. 10 years ago, I would have loved to have known about/had it.
