If needed, the adjustable strap can be lengthened to provide a drop of 17", so yes, it can be carried that way, however the strap is 1" wide and not designed for shoulder comfort, so carrying it this way over long distances would not be a good idea. The "cooler bag" is basically a $4 bag. It's no different than the 99 lunch cooler bags you can buy at Walmart, except it hangs on This item is made in a cheap way. When it comes to heavier items, I keep it away from it on fear that it will tear. Estimate it the same way you would a $4 bill. It costs 99 cents for a lunch cooler. It has a pretty thin wall and a wide opening This bag is not made of very strong materials. For light items, it is quite decent, but I personally would not trust it for storing too many soda cans or bottled waters.

This is the first one I have ever owned, and so far it has held up well. However, I do not fill it with ice and drinks every day. I must say, however, that it has been on this kayak since day one and it has worked like a charm!
Update It was on the seat of my kayak when I took it off. This has been used extensively and has experienced almost any type of weather you can imagine. This is my second visit as I am in the market for My old computer isn't broken. I've just abused it to the point where if it dies, I want a new one.
After finding this item, I thought it would be ideal. Once I received it, I realized that it is smaller than I originally imagined, but I can live with it. Despite all the weight of the ice and food, the tiny 1ich strap that is supposed to hold it on the seat just slips down The only thing I had was some ice with my food, two sodas, and it wouldn't last long. (I decided to sit it on my seat instead since I couldn't hang it then. I was done then, it was not worth the $20 and I wouldn't even have put down a $1. It was a hassle to return this item, but I got my full refund so that is the only good thing about it.
This was $20 when I bought it A five-hour car trip, and it kept cool from morning to night! I put ice in the bottom, and there were no leaks. All pockets were easy to access while driving (keep both hands on the steering Highly recommend this purchase. ) Very happy with my purchase, and very easy to work with.

It's a good bag for the price, except it doesn't have a way of securing the bottom around the seat or to the seatback, which causes it to move when I drive. The zipper is also very cheap and doesn't In my case, I needed a quick fix, and it is adequate.
I used this for a road trip lasting around 10 hours. Make sure you keep your food cool by using ice packs! For sports drinks or snacks that are small and cold, it's perfect.
