The valley cover and knock sensors didn't need to be removed. The wires to the knock sensors must, of course, be disconnected. The valley cover "bumps up" a little where the knock sensors are, but I just bolted the plate right over it and it worked fine. Lift plate is very well made!
All Gen 3 and Gen 4 engines are compatible with this part. This isn't compatible with the new Gen 5 LT motors.
It's made for LS engines as well as caricatured engines.
Yes, on a 5, this will fit in the valley. 7 LS1.

I built one similar to this years ago and accidentally let it go on an engine. I do a lot of swaps, which means unbolting the carb, lifting out the engine, and dropping in an lsx engine. If I'm working on a carbureted engine and have the carb off, I'll put this on to keep debris out of the intake, saving me from having to deal with masking tape or duck tapes. The same can be said for a couple of thick washers. It can be installed on top of the factory valley cover and eliminates the need for knock sensors, which can be a pain to replace if they've rotted or rusted in place on a gen4 with DOD.
The product is well-made and simple to use. Used to pull LS motor at pick'n'pull on 50% off day and it worked out perfectly. I like how the plate has three different lift points that can be easily adjusted for lifting the motor out of the transmission and lifting the motor alone. Because I forgot my hex drivers at home and the metric bolts for the LS are hex head, I tightened them with my torx drivers. I would suggest it to anyone working on a LS. I like that it's dual-purpose and can be used with my older Chevrolet vehicles' four-barrel carburetors. This instrument is well worth the money.
This engine lift plate is constructed to withstand the elements. I was lifting a complete 472ci Cadillac engine (weighing close to 1,000 lbs) 8 feet in the air, so I wasn't about to scrimp on a lift plate and risk it failing. It was a little more expensive than the cheaper ones, but it was well worth the extra money for the peace of mind and security it provided. Because it's universal, it'll work with a wide range of intake manifold bolt configurations. Also included are the correct bolt sizes for most engines. This is the lift plate to get if you care about your engine. Thank you for creating such a high-quality item.
I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but I'm assuming it bolts up properly. This thing is extremely well made and packaged, assuming we're on the right track there. I'm going to look at some of their other products for my engine swap because this is a great product.
I like how it keeps all of the necessary bolts in one place. When it's time to pull a motor, you won't have to look for your bolts. br>Had a Complete 6 for a long time. 0 iron block engine with turbo manifolds and all necessary accessories.
This engine lift plate is a beast, and it did a fantastic job pulling my 5. I took three out of my truck and didn't even think twice about lifting the motor and transmission out as one.
When you have as many different engines as we do, having something like this on hand is a good thing to have. I have yet to come across an engine that it does not work with.
