Questions & Answers
When I sew, I haven't had any breakage issues; it's as good as any other serger thread I've tried, and I've tried a lot.
Four spools are included in this set.
This thread is not stretchy at all.
They're the same height as regular 3000 yard spools, but they're a little fatter, maybe 2 1/2" when full, but not as fat as the MaxiLock 6000 yard spools, which can also be used on a home serger. The thread appears to be in good condition, and I have no problems with it. Not "lumpy" (uneven) like some. br>By the way, I've also used extremely large spools and simply placed them behind the serger on the table, which hasn't caused any issues. They work just as well when they aren't attached to the machine.

I purchased this thread several years ago and have had problems with it ever since. I've hated using my serger since I bought it because it was always jamming or the thread was breaking, making it difficult to use; I assumed it was either me or the serger; however, I recently replaced the thread and haven't had a single issue in the last week of sewing. I reinserted this thread to see what would happen, and after 20 minutes of sewing, it jammed.
This is the third time I've purchased this item, and I believe the manufacturer has changed or something is wrong. When I first ordered the thread, it arrived on pink spools and everything was fine; however, when I reordered, the thread arrived on yellow spools with the plastic covering the cones completely dirty! I'm not sure how they got dirty or who decided to ship them off that way because they were even in their own plastic bag. The thread was unaffected because it was covered in plastic, but it was still noticeable. I never left a review because, for the price, these seemed like a good option; however, this is my third purchase, and the thread has small breaks and has been tied together in several places. This is a major issue because it's going through the overlock machine, which creates a continuous chain of stitches. There will be no starting and stopping because the end result will be choppy. The knotted thread either doesn't go through the machine properly, your sewn item gets snags, or the little tied knot shows up on the finished product and makes it look cheap. I've been able to pull the knots through the machine as I've noticed them, but this wastes thread and, ultimately, money. I was extremely disappointed.
I looked for thread at Joann Fabrics, but their spools were tiny and cost $7 each. For four gigantic (and I mean gigantic) (and I mean gigantic) (and I mean gigantic) (and I mean I've never seen serger spools this big before, but they fit on my Brother 1034D serger, which I also got from Amazon for $14. 99, which was a ridiculously low price for the massive amount of thread I received. Because I'm impatient, I'm rough on my machines and thread, and other threads have broken in the past, but this thread has held up through three skirts, a shirt, and chiffon. I'm so happy and impressed with this company that I'm planning on repurchasing whenever I need more (which won't be for a long time because there's so much thread).
This is a 6000 yard spool that has been marked down from a 4000 yard spool. I know because I'm a professional seamstress with a wall rack stacked with spools of yarn. 12000 yd, 6000 yd, and 4000 yd, to name a few. This spool has significantly less thread than my 6000-yard spools but is otherwise identical to my 4000-yard spools- As a result, there is a risk of fraud and overcharging. and assuming that the average user will be oblivious to the fact that they are being taken advantage of- not good.
One of the spools does not have a single continuous thread and has numerous breaks, forcing me to re-thread it. It's inexcusable that I keep threading my serger throughout a project.
This isn't even close to being a good thread. When I use it in my serger, it snaps every time; I've never had this problem with other thread brands. Also, anyone who buys this for the first time and hasn't bought 6,000 yards of thread before should be aware of the following: 6,000 YARDS IS NOT THE SIZE OF THIS PROPERTY. It's probably around 4,000 people at the most. It's much more noticeable in person, but I've attached a photo to demonstrate how my red spool, which I purchased from a different vendor, was significantly larger than the black brand new spool I purchased from this company. I'd been using the red spool for a lot of projects, but it's still bigger than the brand new black spool. This is how I know the black spool isn't 6,000 yards like it says on the package. I was dissatisfied with the deceptive marketing. At this price, I would not have bought 4,000 yards, and when I first opened the package, the spools were not all equal. Because some of the black spools are noticeably thicker than others, the yardage on all of them isn't the same. Quite unusual.
I had thread spools with a total length of 3,000 yards. To compare, I used one of these from this vendor as well as two of my other spools. They should have balanced out, but they didn't. My best guess is that there are 4,000 yards per spool, rather than the 6,000 advertised. There was no breakage and no knots in the 6,000 spools, so the quality is good. I'm simply disappointed in the yardage promised.
It was a huge let down. Immediately after reviewing and opening the package, I requested a refund.
