Quilled Creations 278 Quilling Kit-Cupcake Treasure Boxes

It was a lot of fun to put this together! It includes enough paper to make each of the cup cakes depicted on the front of the book. The majority of the paper is 1/4" strips, with a few 1/8" strips thrown in for good measure. br>br>The instructions were a little difficult to follow, and the kit did not include the necessary tools - All that is included is the paper and the instructions. br>br>I purchased it from this website - Little Harbor Kids was in charge of filling the order. It arrived on time and in good condition. br>br>The cup cakes were a little smaller than I had anticipated - You might have a hard time fitting a single Hershey's kiss into one. They are, however, adorable! I turned one into a "Pup cake" that a friend had made, then turned it into an ornament by adding a mini cup cake holder to the bottom, a button for the nose, 1/8" quilling paper for the ears, mouth, and tongue, and googlie eyes - It will not open because it is glued shut. It turned out to be a fantastic outcome! br>br>Making this was a lot of fun. It was also a lot of fun to transform one into what I needed:.

I did have to buy a dome shaper and a curling tool (which helps keep the ends and roll of the strips even when rolling a large number of strips). ) on their own (both of which are highly recommended for use with this set). I gave one to a friend's daughter (complete with a small bracelet and charm). She was ecstatic! I'm going to give the rest to my nieces, nephew, and goddaughter for their birthdays, and I'm going to make more of them and come up with my own "recipes" as well! The booklet was extremely useful, and it included some excellent advice. I've been quilling (as a hobby) for about two years. So I'm not a complete beginner, but I'm also not an expert; I'd say I'm at the "intermediate" or lower level. It's also a fun craft to do with a kid.

This kit appeals to me. So far, each one has taken me about an hour to complete. It'll probably get faster as time goes on. The 3D dome tool is highly recommended. I can make the shapes by hand, but the tool ensures that they are all uniform. br>I had to fiddle with the number of strips a little, probably due to my quilling tension, but after one base that was far too small (I made a smaller cupcake top to match, so no big deal), I was able to consistently match top and base. My advice is to make more strips than are required and to use a Curling Coach to maintain a consistent diameter. In the meantime, I'm gluing tops to bottoms until I figure out how to make a top that stays put. But that's just a matter of getting used to it. br>The materials and instructions included in this kit are excellent. It comes highly recommended from me.

Making this item is a lot of fun. They are large enough to accommodate a simple ring or necklace. I did purchase a dome maker, which greatly simplified the process. It's so adorable. My niece has also expressed an interest in making one. At the age of ten, I believe she will be able to handle it. Make a few more so you can stuff them with small gifts. If you wrap the candy kiss loosely enough, it will fit.

I was under the impression that the "cupcakes" would be larger when finished, but they're adorable and the ideal "cake" for those of us on a diet!.

This kit's instructions are simple to follow, and the quality is excellent. The final version piqued my girls' interest.

It's a lot of fun and only a little difficult. Many of the parts required to complete these projects are not included. If you've been quilling for a while, this is something you should get.
