Questions & Answers

The test has been conducted using 5 printers, 2 laminators, and 2 different types of paper. There are still some splotchy results in my report. Is there anything you can advise me?

Our team ran everything through the laminator 3 times, then shook it like a Polaroid to let the foil cool before peeling it Still, no guarantee it'll turn out perfect. It's a job that requires a great deal of precision and attention. The only printer we could use from work was the one we borrowed from work. It is best if your cardstock is smooth. The only advice I can offer is the one I just gave you. You're off to a great start!

When used with a laminate machine, it seems to work well, but won't an iron work just as well? Have you noticed any differences compared to using an iron and a laminator?

My first experience with a laminator was with card stock and it worked well! In addition, it was only $20 for the laminator. While I have not used a hot iron, based on information I have found online, I heard it didn't work as well as a laminator. I hope that was helpful!

Can this be used with the Heidi Mini CNC?

Yeah, that should be fine! Although I do not have the Minc machine myself, I have seen plenty of demo videos that demonstrate the use of this foil with Minc machines.

The edges of a book could be gilded with this. Is that possible? It is soft and delicate, which seems to be beneficial when used in such a thin space. ?

However, I have not written a book, but it seems to work on most things. If you've edged an item with gold leaf, once you've finished the process and it's dried, I recommend applying a topcoat like Mod Podge or Deco Art finishing topcoat.

The product is amazing as long as it is used properly! *With the right circumstances*, this product works exceptionally well
5/5

There is no way to overstate how important this is. If you want a professional result, you cannot cut corners. Here are the things you need to know after spending 10+ hours printing wedding invitations The first step is to connect your printer to a laser. There must be enough toner on the laser printer for the foil to stick to it. Two of the three laser printers that we borrowed from an office did not lay down enough toner to fully adhere the foil. Of the three, we borrowed 3 different laser printers with new toner cartridges. There was a problem with the third printer. Before you test your printer, you probably won't know if it's good or bad. A laminator should also be used. When I tried to iron it, it produced terrible results. Anything other than a laminater isn't going to provide the right temperature or pressure. The third requirement is that the paper is Using recycled paper, rough paper, velvety paper, or any other texture of paper will not result in a clean print. In spite of all that, this stuff is magical when you use it the right way and with the right equipment. Play around with it and have fun!.

We have found them to be very finicky and hard to get good results
3/5

As a result of the difficulty I experienced in getting consistent results, I am unable to recommend this product. Our experience with gold foiling was relatively limited, so we didn't have the faintest idea of what we were getting ourselves into or what we were doing. In addition, if you've gotten as far as considering this product, I'm guessing you're at least somewhat familiar with the gold foiling process already, so I write this review on the basis of You can use gold foiling to make a small project, e. g. A greeting card, a postcard, a business card, etc. You will find that if you order a cute sign, 5 greeting cards, or something else you will find life Gold foiling is more difficult to incorporate into bulk projects, since the results are unpredictable, and there is only so much gold foiling you can make before the quality is unacceptable. The process of gold foiling about 100 DIY wedding invitations, RSVP cards, and details cards proved extremely challenging. It seemed that every single variable affected how well the gold foil adhered to the surface of the paper or card stock, so we went through a ton, and I do mean a ton, of trial and error to obtain our final results, which were As far as gold foil adhering to the surface, I mean it adhered consistently, and as far as bad results, I mean that it didn't adhere, and there were unsightly black patches throughout the text we were gold foiling. It is very unpredictable what kind of results you will get at any given time, even if all of the variables appear to be in place! As we experienced, each of the following variables played an important role It doesn't matter what laser printer we used, or whether it was loaded with authentic or counterfeit toner In combination with this gold foil, we used *** *** - The cardstock on which this is printed The page size should be 8" x 11" and the paper is 100# Cougar Natural. I have a large, office-sized HP laser printer fully loaded with do not know the precise model of the printer). Here are a few tips and pearls of wisdom we learned during our sorrowful gold foiling experience *** *** - The results from genuine HP toner have always been the best for some reason. No idea why this is happening. It got better as we went heavier on the weight of the card stock. the 100# stuff listed above was the heaviest 1) The gold foil did not adhere to regular printer paper very well. Make sure the laminator has been heated up for at least 10 minutes before you use Whenever you insert a sheet after another on a roll, like we did many times, allow the laminator to take intermittent breaks so it can heat up again. (We gave the laminator a 10-point rating if we were not sure why we weren't getting good results After a break of a few minutes, oftentimes better results were observed. B)Brr - - Some of the best results we had happened when we consistently inserted something right side up or upside down into the laminator. It is possible that the gold foil adhered better to the lamination if it is peeled off in a vertical direction over a horizontal direction. In addition, peel the gold foil slowly/gently in order to get a better adhesive result. Even if you're using the laminator two times, sometimes it works to send the same thing through twice in a row if you keep getting bad results. The gold foil was then applied to the text by using a special medium that helped it adhere better to the "more stubborn" texts. In the same vein, if you get bad results in your laminator and the gold foil doesn't stick to all of your text, or if you accidentally missed a spot, you can place leftover scraps of gold foil over the missed areas and re-laminate. It is true that gold foil guesswork is sometimes successful, and sometimes it is not. The above might not be the only tips that can be offered, but for now, those seem to be the ones that spring to mind! Obviously, we would not have gone through with this had we been aware at the outset of how difficult it would be. However, we hope our anecdotes and advice can help others with their gold foiling process. You're off to a great start!.

The laminator worked well with the Minc foil transfer folders and my Amazon Basics laminator
5/5

Gold foiling several signages for our wedding reception was easy with this product and Amazon Basics laminator. In my office, I have a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw printer. This foil comes with a range of Minc Transfer Folders that I purchased to use with it. Even though the foil did not adhere completely to my laser print, the flecked appearance it created helped it to stand out quite a bit to me. In addition, my signs were very firmly attached to the foil and I did not have any flaking issues. I was amazed at how it enhanced the look of our reception, and the lamination was good considering that I was not using the recommended/required There is a chance that I would have achieved better results if I had been able to get more toner to lay down on the paper. IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE The first thing I attempted was to foil and print my messages on textured I was unable to get it to work. This must be due to the texture of the paper and the fact that the toner has settled into the paper rather than sitting on top of it As the paper was thicker, my laminator may have been unable to heat through it and cause the foil to adhere in the first place. The lesson is Make sure the paper is perfectly smooth!.

MINC is much worse than this
5/5

There is no comparison between the MINC and this. As the paper is thicker and more durable, it prints thicker and is easier to work with. The results I've had with this brand have been consistently the best, and every time I've used the MINC brand have been mediocre My only regret is that I didn't get the Therm O foil instead. It works really well if you laminate it. To get better results, use a thin sheet of clear plastic to cover the foil it will make it perfect and smooth every time. I use transparency film, like that used in projectors - it will make it perfect and smooth every time. There's nothing more to it than a thin sheet of acetate that smooths the foil over the paper.

Foils that would be good for amateurs but not for professionals
4/5

In addition to the color, I also love the fact that it comes with so many sheets of foil in one package (and that I don't have to buy several If you want to use this with a laminator, I recommend that you laminate only a design that isn't very complicated. As you lift the foil off, the small details tend not to be as pronounced as they would be with a more flexible foil. In addition, I noticed that some foil may flakes off if the foiled piece is handled often. Whenever I handle a card foiled in Deco Rose Gold or Deco Gold, it now flakes when I handle it. I made some personal cards and foiled them all with the colors. The foils, however, are a decent quality and relatively inexpensive for the amount of fun you can have foiling artwork with a variety of In the event that I had to work on a low budget, I would still buy these You are under stress because of It was fun to work on the.
