Can I use these to make fire starters if I cut them down to about two inches in length?

They can be cut, but I don't think they'd be good for starting a fire. They're only about a sixteenth of an inch thick.

Is it true that they are manufactured in the United States of America? Isn't the material from the United States of America as well?

extremely frail These wicks burned a very small diameter within even my smaller votives, so I'm guessing the other reviewers make very thin candles

I also discovered that they burn quickly, and that in some cases, they were quickly extinguished by the nearby candle. I've been making candles for a few years and have never had this problem with wicks. For my taller candles, the long length seemed like a good idea, but the wicks burned so badly. What a waste of time.

It emits a large amount of black smoke

Because of the smoke it produces, my fire alarm went off! These are made for a very low price. I'd go with CandleScience or the Wooden Wick Co. if you want to buy a real candle. br>br>They emit massive amounts of black smoke, to the point where my fire alarm went off! DO NOT BUY THESE CANDLES, EVEN IF YOU PLANNED TO SELL THEM TO OTHERS! Even when the wick is cut very short, the flame grows to enormous proportions, posing a fire hazard.

a great deal We prefer to burn the entire candle; I despise it when they put one wick in the middle and all the other wax is wasted because it only burns in the center, so I just use a shish-kabob

kabob, poke a couple more holes in the wax, and cut the wicks to the size I require, and voila! The candle, laa, is finally extinguished.

Wicks that aren't as good as they should be

These wicks burn too quickly and are extremely flimsy, so they wouldn't stand straight up once the candle wax melted. I have to constantly pull it out of the candle.

The addition of 50 metal tabs is a nice touch. I actually cut 50 extra short wicks out of mine! Even if I didn't cut them, this is literally the best quality and price available. It takes a minute, but it's worth it because there's less waste. And believe me when I say that I order from every candle supplier because I work in the craft supply industry.

For the price, it's a good buy! I liked how long they were and how they came with extra bases so that one wick could be used for several smaller candles

They do seem to smoke a little and need to be trimmed back frequently, but other than that, this is a great wick for beginners!.

Smoky. I bought these to use in candles that I had previously melted in a candle warmer and discovered I didn't like because the scent was too smoky.
