I concur with all of the other comments made here. This is a sturdy, solid MDF board that is perfectly flat and simple to work with. However, if you're planning on using it with a laser engraving machine (I use a Glowforge), keep in mind that it's much denser than the Glowforge draftboard. To cut through it, I had to make several passes at slower speeds, whereas Glowforge's draftboard cuts cleanly in one pass. br>br>I do not believe this is a flaw in the product - It is marketed as a multiple-use product by the company. It's called a "craft board" for a reason, and it fits the bill perfectly. And if you're working on a laser engraving or cutting project that requires something more durable than Glowforge's draftboard, this could be the answer. Just keep in mind that it cuts differently and make your purchases accordingly.
I took a chance on this when I needed to make fish cutouts for a craft fundraiser. I wanted balsa wood or some other wood, but they were either too thin or too expensive. Husband said, "It's going to fray bad when you cut it because it's just cardboard. " Turns out it cuts clean, is light weight, and smooth, not too thin or thick, I can make a lot, and it wasn't too expensive. We will be able to paint it, glue it on, and drill holes. It is not cardboard, but rather dense, sturdy, and strong, similar to wood without the grain. It turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for. And it arrived in just two days!.
The pieces are mostly uniform in size, have been carefully cut to size, and are ready to use. However, the edges of five of the forty pieces are ragged, uneven, or crumbled. Instead of hauling the entire order to UPS or Kohl's for return shipping and replacement, I'll just make do with these. [I did the same thing with a recent/similar order from a different vendor, and I got the exact same wrong item as a replacement. ].
These are substantial panels with a lot of weight to them. They're perfectly flat and don't warp in the least. They take gesso and oil paint without hesitation. The only disadvantage, and in my opinion the most significant, is the smell of the board; if you buy these, you should leave them outside for a few days before bringing them inside.
This MDF is very easy to machine, but it isn't ultimately accurate to 1/4 inch; instead, I believe it is metric. Because I use a quarter-inch router bit, this was a problem for me.
I was tempted to leave a negative review just to ensure that this item would never sell out! But, to be honest, if you're a crafter who creates their own wood cutouts, this is exactly what you're looking for! I use a scroll saw to create custom designs, and this is exactly what I've been looking for! I'd give it a ten out of ten rating! My order arrived in excellent condition and was well-packaged. I've added a new Amazon shop to my repertoire!.
These are exactly what you've been looking for! Smooth material, and each one is cut to the exact size specified. If you own a CNC, this is ideal.
It's of good quality, sturdy, and it's not flammable. flexing. The surface is smooth.
