Questions & Answers

What type of rubber is the roller made of?

It's dense, not pliable, and it won't scratch your fingernails. Impossible to destroy. Even after years of use, black rubber does not rub off on paper.

What are the two circular indents in the black rectangle?

To lay the tape flat, "scrape" it down. It'll help you get rid of the bubbles.

Is it possible to carve a texture pattern roller out of the rubber?

It's difficult to give a definitive answer. Because the rubber is fairly firm, I believe carving a pattern in it would be difficult. But I suppose it's possible if you have the right tools and enough patience.

Is it possible to use this as a rolling pin?

You might be able to, but it's a small space. It's very easy to roll.

Printmaking isn't a good idea
3/5

I'm a budget printmaker looking for a brayer that's both cheap and long. There are no stores near me that sell high-quality printmaking supplies, so I figured this one would be worth a shot based on the reviews. It had been a nightmare. I use an oil-based ink to print, and I used pink in this case. The ink is stuck on the roller and will not come off. I have a similar problem with the less expensive speedball rollers, but it's not nearly as bad. The oil I used to thin the ink was ineffective, and the cleaning products were ineffective as well. I had to scrub the areas with shop towels over and over again where there was visible black. I bought a new roller for around $40 from an art store, and the ink just wiped away like magic. I'm throwing this away because the time and effort it takes to clean it isn't worth it. The moral of the story is that if you spend more money on good tools, you will get a better result.

I bought this to use on my craft signs to apply vinyl
5/5

When applying vinyl for and with my vinyl cutter, it works wonders for smoothing out bubbles and lines. I use it to place vinyl on a cutting mat before cutting, to apply transfer tape to cut vinyl before applying it to a sign or project, and to smooth the vinyl after it has been applied.

There are more advantages than disadvantages
4/5

I used it to roll out a sheet of Dynamat Xtreme to my truck's ceiling. Pros: Fits comfortably in the hand, and the roller is made of a firm, thick rubber that rolls smoothly. Due to the lack of sealed bearings, it rolls exceptionally well. Cons: Any amount of concentrated rolling causes it to heat up quickly. Lightweight and low-cost construction. If it still works when I finish my truck's floor and body panels, I'll be surprised. Overall, better than the other cheap translucent yellow roller sold on Amazon under ten different brand names (that one broke in 10 minutes), and well worth the extra ten dollars if it lasts the entire job. I believe that if the manufacturer or buyer injected some grease into it to help reduce heat buildup, it would go a long way.

Tool is well-made and durable
4/5

In confined spaces, exercise caution. A good rolling tool with a lot of smoothness. To laminate two panels together, I used to use pressure. It was a success. If your project, on the other hand, necessitates rolling around corners, i. e. A different roller may be a better choice inside a box or cabinet, as the axel protrudes 1/8" to 3/16" on both sides of the metal bracket, necessitating extreme caution to avoid gouging the side walls. This can be seen in the photographs. I just didn't think about it until the glue-up happened. The process of getting up was already underway.

The roller is fantastic
5/5

On an RV with angles and grooves, I had to use a lot of heavy bonding tape. It nicely leveled out the tape and was solid and heavy enough to make it work properly. It worked great and I'm happy with it. I was able to apply 50 feet and smooth it out nicely using this, which is 3 inches wide. And it worked well, so I highly recommend it for average use. It's not commercial-grade, so keep that in mind if you're working on a big project. It might or might not be heavy enough, but it worked perfectly for us.

This is a fantastic little tool! We had a j-shaped hole that needed to be filled
5/5

In our guest bedroom, we used a roller to apply vinyl wall paneling. While we got our vinyl wall paneling from Wayfair, they wanted nearly $200 for a j-shaped panel. It's a rollercoaster ride, which is insane! I immediately went to Amazon and found and ordered this extremely inexpensive rubber roller, and the rest is history. br>br>This product performed admirably in the installation of our vinyl wall paneling. We'll also use it to hang reclaimed wood paneling on it. It's simple to use, of excellent quality, performs as expected, and is reasonably priced. What more could a rubber roller possibly provide?.
