The sturdiness of this paper appeals to me. When working, tape the edges to keep them from curling upward.
The Uart Sanded Pastel Paper No. 1 is a medium-weight pastel paper with a sanded finish The 320 grade is a great value and a great product. br>Being new to pastels, I didn't realize how important it was to get the right grade for the right project. The 320 is a good all-around grade. texture is all about It can hold a lot of chalk layers without losing the one you're working on right now. The 600 and 800 are much finer grades that are ideal for fine detail work. A course grade has more teeth and is more "workable" for landscapes and general work than a portrait or animal grade.
It matches my soft pastels perfectly. I can blend them and add more to the paper at the same time.
I used one of the 800 sheets. I've found that the 800 grade is coarser and more difficult to apply fine detail to. I used an 800 grade sheet for a portrait and struggled with it for a while before realizing it was the texture of the paper that was causing the problem. I'd use a lower-grade UArt paper for portraits. I have not used the 320 grade, but I have used the 400 grade, which I found to be far more manageable. For landscapes, I liked the 400 a lot.
