It is a set that I recommend as a whole. There are several of these products on Amazon and other sites, but I ultimately decided on this one for the aesthetics and products included This is all done at a very competitive price (although I see the price has gone up since then). Directions would have been nice, as others have also mentioned. The item looks exactly as pictured. My plans are to store a tin of red ink cushioned inside the ink stone and a dropper of red ink within It will still be incomplete without the seal I currently have and flannel, but I can make it complete once I have them both. I have not used it yet, so I am not able to comment on how well it actually works, but based on the workmanship, I would estimate it's of average quality. These minor imperfections are how you can tell it's fake. I feel the case to be cardboard with some fabric glued on that is slightly rippled and glued on. As a result of being folded to fit, the paper is bent. In the same way, the magic cloth was wrinkled and marked. Some of the brushes had small chips and the ink stone was cracked. Upon arrival, the Gift For You box was dented and ripped, but this is more likely a shipping issue than anything else. Briefly, it's a typical Chinese calligraphy gift set you see all the time, except for the price, I really liked the design and combination of items included in this set.

As a beginner in Chinese calligraphy, I would like to improve my skills. My studies took place a very long time ago when I was a small girl. In other words, I have a basic understanding. It was a pretty good performance for all of them. The hair is soft on the outside and fairly stiff on the inside, so it is able to hold ink quite well. It has an easy to control bristle. As far as cursive and symbolic characters are concerned, I prefer them. I liked the way it was written. This is a highly recommended book.

As a set, the kit comes in a sturdy box. It's then placed in an additional box to support it, and then placed in a third box to ship it. On Amazon, I found this kind of customer service and attention to detail to be rare. I appreciate that, so thank you. All the items listed in the product were included, and they are all in good condition. I made it. You can give it as a gift or keep it as a keepsake We want to ensure future generations are well taken care of. This is such a pretty dish, I hate to even put it to use. A beginner might not want to try this, but someone with strong classical calligraphy talent may enjoy it.

When I opened one of the brushes, it was broken. Everything looks the same as described! It is too loose to stick back in, so I tried to stick it back on.
