Because I have an extreme hourglass figure, I make most of my clothes myself since it is difficult to find the right fitting clothes in the market. A dress form was required for testing muslins, and given my unique measurements (42/29/40), an adjustable one seemed to be the most reasonable choice. I found this one to be good, but I have to make a few adjustments if you are like me and always busy. I measure 42 inches wide at my underbust, but 42 inches high at my overall bust. It's hard to increase the bust size on this form without also increasing the underbust size. Thus, if I have strange measurements, I modify the bust of the form to equal my underbust measurement, then pad out the breasts to reach my bust With mine, I put one of my old bras in and stuffed it with pantyhose until I achieved the desired breast size. Thus, I am able to develop a more accurate bust measurement than what I would get from Here are photographs of the form without padding and the form after padding has been applied.

Apart from that, I like this form very much. It may be a bit difficult to turn some of the dials at first, but after a couple turns, it is easy to maneuver. You will want to avoid using heavy fabrics with it, but if you use cottons or other standard dress fabrics, you should be fine.

I think this is a good staple for any gal, like me, who likes to make her own clothes. If you are setting up a dress form for the first time, you may still have to do some adjustments to get the right body shape. Very good value for the money!.

The majority of my sewing is semi-professional, hence I do not make a skirt here and a bathrobe there like the average homemaker. The sturdy construction, as well as how easily the size can be adjusted quickly without much difficulty, are important to me. Dritz, we need to talk, what the actual hell is going on. Where are the numbers on my last dummy? This one doesn't have any numbers on the dial. Trying to make costumes for people is very difficult when I am restricted from getting the materials I need. Every time I want to change the size now, I have to get out the measuring tape. Total pain when it comes to changing sizes. This gives it two stars in the category of ease of use. The lack of numbers may not be an issue if you are only using the dummy for you, maybe adjusting it once in a while, but not a major issue for you if you are a home crafter or cosplayer. Sure, it would be annoying, but it's not the end of the world.

When it comes to putting things together, anyone who says otherwise is assuming the worst. The best part is that I can take off the super annoying hemming tool I'm always tripping over and put it back on when I need it or not. With a bit of wrestling you can pull the feet off the stand and break it down enough to put it in the back of your car to drive to your friend's house, but it's not something you would want to stuff in a suitcase to travel to a convention. I work on heavy projects and find this stand to be much better than other stands because it has retention hardware to stop the dummy and the stand from sliding down while you work. Which is great if you need something solid to hold your heavy object. A dummy of this brand I used for five years in heavy abuse in the wrist almost every day before one of the dials broke. The Singer band dummy I have now is a much better product than those bottom of the line Singer products I've used It is true that the dials and body are plastic, so do not go cranking up the front bust dial all the way to full without adjusting the others as well. Also, mine came in a different color than I expected and it was not blue. It didn't break the deal, but it did give me a surprise after I opened the package.

One of the Matilda dolls in a shop where I worked used to be It didn't matter whether she was a size 12 or a size 8, and she didn't change in size, so you could pin to your heart's content without worrying that she would break. We used to enjoy dressing Matilda up with new slip covers even though she had ugly fabric on her. In my dreams, every since I left the shop, I have been dreaming about owning a Matilda (or something similar), but they are so expensive that I'm not waiting much My final choice was this one, after having shopped around for quite a while. I am very close to being completely satisfied with this purchase. As she is lightweight, I can easily pick her up and set her on the table so that I can work on a complex hem without having to sit or lay on the floor, which is a major plus because I have bad knees, and I find it hard to get up. According to the other ones I've looked at, they would have cost me $400 each, and I would have to get one in each size to cater to my customer and how would I put all that, and how would I pay for it all? As it stands, she has dials all over, and I think she would be vastly improved if she had fewer dials, but more readable ones that operated multiple openings. For example, if a customer measured 38, 25, and 39, I could adjust the dial for each dimension and finish the job. I would like to be able to adjust the height to a specific measurement as well. Although I am able to adjust the height, I am unable to adjust it to exactly 5'-4" My guess must be right, then I must measure and adjust, over and over again, until it is just right. Her torso pulls off the pole fairly easily, so I have to be careful when she is moved since she is always moving around. I wish she had wheels because I move her around all the time. Ideally, I'd like to purchase a scooter so that she can use it with her base. But, again, would adding wheels to the manufacturing process be too difficult? My guess is that it won't be too difficult.
