You just need a needle and some felting wool to get started. I was trying needle felting for the first time. With everything you need to get started in the kit, including needles and fun designs, this kit couldn't be more perfect. It was a good start to the game for the cat. The QR reader can be used to view videos. Wrapping each project was an individual touch. Even though there was a little felt leftover, I still had enough to complete.

It does not seem to be wool at all, but rather I found it to be a bit rough to touch and not soft at all. The wool has weird particles inside, but I have no idea what they are.
