When it comes to these kits, I use one strand and it works great!
In case you've never done cross stitch, this pattern may be a bit tricky for you. Starting out with straight lines and few color changes is the best way to learn. Then once you gain a little experience, you can take off from there, and nothing is too hard. I like this pattern. You could start with this kit for your first challenge and practice what you have learned.
There is thread included in each kit.
You contacted me through a web form. Thank you. It is only a 5" x 5" project, so stretcher bars or a hoop won't be needed. You would be best off with 8" if you were to use something.

The little kit is great. In my youth, I used to work dimensions kits and I always liked them, but I haven't done needlepoint in about three decades, let alone a kit, so finding some pleasant surprises was quite pleasant. A big issue is that the threads are already separated and it's confusing. There is a thread guide attached to the threads that includes their product numbers, as well as cross-references I have referred to a table in the directions and keyed in the design chart, which clearly shows where to place the different colors. By doing so, two things are accomplished It keeps the threads organized, so you don't have a jumble of knotted threads, which is great if you're going to carry it around with you like I do, rather than keeping it in one spot. In addition, it comes in handy because it's sometimes extremely hard to discern one color from another when they are nearly identical, but in particular on the canvas, the combination makes it very intuitive to know what each color is, which makes selecting the appropriate color very easy. Sadly, the threads arranged in the thread guide are in a strange order, which does not accord with the thread chart, table, or standard rainbow ordered thread list. So, to make it easier to stitch, I suggest you write down the corresponding table or chart number directly on your thread guide, as I have done. I think you will find that doing that will be much easier as you begin Additionally, the instructions include a description of how to do the two most common needlepoint stitches (continental and basketweave), and how to use them, as well as information on how to back stitch for the places In addition, it has excellent instructions for finishing your piece and some useful tips on how to work it. In addition to a thread guide table, a color list has been transcribed onto the back in Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, and (I think) Portuguese. We regret to inform you that there are no non-governmental organizations Despite the increased frequency and importance of such languages worldwide, and the fact that the kit is made in China, it does not support languages whose letters use the Roman alphabet, such as Chinese, Japanese, or Arabic. In most of the rest of the instructions, there are diagrams that will be easy to follow even if the person does not know English very well. This kit combines all these features in an array of ways that should make it suitable for beginners and experienced needlepointers alike. In addition, people who have never done needlepoint at all might want to start with a simpler design with fewer details, more and larger blocks of single colors, in order to make it easier for them to understand. Due to the fact that larger blocks work up faster, it is easier to keep track of your progress and better understand what proper stitching looks like, as well as Also, it is very gratifying to see the progress being made. However, I think that at the end of the day, it really comes down to personal preference. My favorite thing to do is switch between detail work and backgrounds, as I can get tired of them both at times, so I'm looking forward to seeing how I fare with my first piece that does not have a background or any large swaths of single color. It is also for this reason that I have chosen a small, inexpensive piece for this experiment. Generally speaking, with bigger pieces of any kind, it's best to begin with the smallest details first. With this one, that gives you a lot of flexibility, although you might prefer to work one color at a time rather than having blank patches unfinished between two completed pieces. It can be quite tricky to fill them in properly, and those are the places where you are most likely to miss a stitch or go through the wrong one rather than going If necessary, you might even want to purchase a couple of additional needles and keep them threaded with different colors and use them back and forth Reviewers have commented that there is not enough thread to complete some of the Dimensions kits, so if that happens to you, please contact the company at the 800 number located In the 794-area the code number for the color(s) you need, and they will send them.
The kit has been made. It began as a way for me to keep busy during the long pandemic winter, and I quickly realized that I really loved I am pleased to report that this is my third Dimensions kit, and I am once again delighted with the quality of the design and thread choices. thread is silky and easy to work with, and the colors are beautiful. Small size (5 x 5 inch), because it is very portable and does not make working on the canvas too cumbersome, even when stretched. The piece is in a frame measuring 8x8, with a mat measuring 5x5. Although it's not a very impressive piece, I'm happy with it. I will give it to an old friend as a gift.
There seemed to be a cross in it There is no stitch when purchasing, but it is continental. I found out that it was easier than cross stitch and the instructions were clear. thing I found challenging was that some colors like orange and other shades of orange on the fish were difficult to distinguish. Taking my time, I was able to complete it in around ten There is no doubt that I would I think it would be useful for beginners!.
Cotton embroidery thread is used instead of wool in this kit. There are small tasks to be done, but they are achievable. It didn't take me long to spot the canvas holes and it didn't require a lot of dexterity for my age. A beginner could use this design because the colors are beautiful and the difficulty level is reasonable. Considering it is only 8x8, I am trying to figure out what to do with it once it is complete.
The instructions should include a more detailed diagram showing where each color should go. I agree with the other reviewer(s) that this would be helpful. The instructions and the picture of the finished product were tedious and frustrating to follow, as was the picture of the final product, printed on the fabric, and the picture in the instructions. The reason for it may be because I'm used to counting cross-word puzzles Put my stitches together. The materials have been prepared for you well in advance and I have no complaints about how they have organized the colors for you. bad at all.
There was an advertisement that indicated it would be made with a 14 mesh canvas, but it was not. A 12 mesh is used for this pattern. Although I am working on it, I would like to see it.
Since I went to one craft store and they didn't have the right one, the project is currently in the closet until I can find some time to pick up.
For beginners, this is a great kit. This was my first attempt at needlepoint and I enjoyed it very much. As far as thread was concerned, I had just enough in a few colors to get what I needed. The canvas is pre-printed with colors, so it looks really nice. I found it very easy to do the project this way. I thought the instructions for how to stitch could have been a little better, but somehow they still managed to accomplish the task. You can always look up information on Google.
