Questions & Answers

What country is this being manufactured in and where is it being shipped from?

Made in the United States of America

How long does a jsp testing solution have a shelf life? Is the shelf life of different jsp testing solutions for different golds, silvers, and platinums the same?

Replace it every six months because it is inexpensive.

Do you have the capability to test silver?

a brief response; NO (in combination with 14k acid). Silver can be tested in two ways: 1. On a positive test, silver acid (which says silver on the bottle) turns red; it's a good tester, but red on a black stone is difficult to see. When you test silver with 18k acid, you'll get a solid bluish white test that's 100% accurate. It's silver plate if it's blue, white, and flaky. I hope this has been of assistance. Bobby

How does this work in detail?

You should definitely get the kit that includes 14,10,18K acid as well as a stone. Scratch the jewelry on the stone, then add a few drops of whatever karat acid you want. If the gold holds up and doesn't disappear, you're good to go.

Selected User Reviews For 3 Bottles 14K Gold Metal Test Acid Karat Testing Liquid Solution Jewelry Tester

For the amateur, this is a great source of concentrated nitric acid! Do you enjoy experimenting with potentially hazardous substances at home? Do you like dissolving metals in nitric acid to create beautiful compounds and toxic nitrogen dioxide gas clouds? Why don't you make a few drops of nitroglycerin and light it? You'll love this stuff if you're annoyed by how difficult it is to find nitric acid for sale to amateurs
5/5

br>br> It's simply concentrated nitric acid, which is most likely the industry standard 68%. Perfect for someone who only wants to play with a small amount of money. It's possible to use it to find out what's going on in the world. If you want to dissolve gold as well, simply mix it with cheap, readily available hydrochloric (aka muriatic) acid to make aqua regia! Metal nitrates come in a variety of colors, including the following: Dropping a cobalt chip into it, for example, produces a lovely red, copper produces a blue, and nickel produces a green (which takes longer but is worth it). Most metals, especially silver, nickel, and aluminum, respond better to slightly diluted solutions because passivating oxide layers are avoided. It's also useful for nitrating organic compounds, especially when combined with sulfuric acid. The best example is nitroglycerin, which is made by nitrating glycerin. There are also a variety of other responses. Nitric acid is an excellent oxidizer as well as a powerful acid, and it is by far my favorite. br>br>Instructions on how to stay safe: Because many reactions, including most dissolving metal reactions, produce a large amount of nitrogen dioxide gas, which is extremely toxic, ventilation is essential. It goes without saying that goggles and gloves are required. When using nitroglycerin, use only a few drops at a time and wear earplugs.

Acids are not very strong
3/5

The acids aren't particularly strong. To test jewelry, you'll need to use a lot more than usual, or at least more than you should. But it gets the job done.
