Maybe you should try beeswax if you're making candles? I have been using beeswax and it becomes quite hard when it cools. As far as I know, I have not experienced any horn breaks.

The only thing I can say is wow I love how easy it is to pour as well as get it out and how beautiful it is I painted mine white to paint it later but I highly recommend it!.
