Before you started pouring, did you preheat your tools and molds?
I'm not sure if you've done any kind of planning ahead of time. Whether it's hot or not Always, however, prepare ahead of time. Molds and tools that require heat should be avoided. Liquid metal and molds can explode if the environment is humid and cold.
No, I don't believe so. With a 4 kg crucible, it's not easy. It also depends on the contents of the glass. With aluminum, it might be ok, but with copper, it's not.

I had good control of my crucible and accurate pours after making minor adjustments to the jaw size to fit my 5 crucible and adding a plastic tie wrap to help hold the handles together.
Tongs that can withstand a lot of force. This is an extremely well-made tool. br>I was not disappointed, and I would recommend it to others.
It fits my 4"x 6" vacuum flasks perfectly, and they appear to be well-made and should last a long time.
The only thing I wish was that the walls of the clap were beveled so it would fit the crucible's curved form more snugly. Aside from that, it's fantastic!.
Good product, but it ships via USPS, so expect it to arrive a week after you order it.
