Questions & Answers

What is the default color setting for the lights if you plug it into a power adapter rather than a computer? what's with the rainbow?

On March 17, 2021, I received the white version of the Razer Base Station V2 Chroma stand. When plugged into a wall outlet (using a power brick from an Android Nexus and an iPhone, as well as a built-in USB slot on a power strip), the bottom light ring will not turn on. However, when plugged into my computer, the light RGB works fine.

Is it compatible with a PlayStation 4?

If you connect it to any USB port, it will work, but you won't be able to adjust it until you download the synapse2 software. So, if you find that software on the PS4, you can tweak it, but I don't believe there is one. However, the RGB will function as expected.br>

Is there a way to connect this to an Xbox One directly?

It's possible, given that it's just a USB port with lights as its primary function, but I'm not sure if the XBOX has a Chroma App.

I ordered one and tried to plug it into a wall outlet using a USB wall outlet charger, but it didn't work?

It will only work if you connect it to an active computer.

Not at all what I had anticipated
3/5

So here are a few quick facts and disclaimers to get things started: This is my first Razer item, and I had no idea what to expect besides the fact that many of the YouTube channels to which I subscribe use their products, as well as online friends, so I had high hopes. I do not have a gaming PC, so I can't use it to its full potential. If I'm being honest, I bought it purely for aesthetic reasons because most of my gaming and computer equipment is black and pink, and it had pretty lights. Let's get this party started now that that's out of the way. br>br>After reading several reviews, I wondered if this needed to be plugged into a computer or if I could simply plug it into my wall. Almost everyone told me I could plug it into my wall, but this is not the case. It MUST 100% be plugged into a computer to work at all which was infuriating because I wanted it next to my bed where I keep my headphones but now I had to move the I thought I had a defective item until I did some more research and discovered it only works when plugged into a computer, which makes sense given the brand. br>br>This leaves dents in my headphone cushion, which isn't a huge dent that affects how it feels, but it's something I've never had a headphone stand do before. It works only when your computer is on, so if you want to charge anything or have the lights on your computer 100% must be on
I think putting the USB ports in When it comes to USB, If you want to use a phone charger or anything else for gadgets, USB 5v from a PC isn't the best option. It will still charge, but not as quickly as anything plugged directly into an outlet or something designed to charge with lightning. br>br>As soon as you plug it into your computer, it will begin downloading software, which, as I previously stated, is my first razer product, and I have no idea how it all works. I simply wanted to be able to control the lighting, and it took me a long time to figure out which of the ten software programs it was. I was impressed by how customizable it is; you can use their color chart or create your own, and it can do a variety of light effects such as breathing, gradient, static, going with your music, Star light, and so on. To save your light settings, you must first register your product and create an account. Otherwise, it will keep resetting. br>br>When your computer is turned off, the lights turn off, which is convenient because I was worried it would be on all the time when I was trying to sleep. br>br>Do I believe it is worth $50 in total? No, but I am paying for a brand, and I was aware of this when I made my purchase. This is 100% a treat yourself kind of thing for me. I was just a little underwhelmed by the value for money. br>br>UPDATE FOR 2021: A year has passed! br>br>As I type this, I'm cringing a little at my original review. Yes I still believe that this is a 100% self treat and this was my first razer product. I now own almost the entire quartz line (Huntsman, basilisk, Kraken, Kitty BT) Since my original purchase, the Synapse software has greatly improved, and you don't need the other softwares unless you're really programming your colors, which I'm not; if you just want to edit the colors, Synapse is all you need. br>br>Overall, I wouldn't buy this at face value, but it does help to tie the setup together.

Razor, it's been a long time since we've seen you
3/5

I used to spend all of my money on razors. Following my purchase of this mouse and the chroma stand, I can confidently state that Razor is no longer a gaming hardware company, but rather a computer hardware manufacturer. 1. br>br> The middle mouse button is so frail and weak that it breaks after only one week of use! PIECE OF GARBAGE! That's all there is to it for two buttons!
2. There is no such thing as a plug-and-play system! When you plug in a Razor device, you'll be surprised how many times you have to restart your computer. If you have any kind of audio indicator when you plug in a device, the number of times the device has to connect and reconnect protects the users. Every time I have to unplug and re-plug, I have to unplug and re-plug, I have to unplug and re-plug, I have to unplug and re-plug, I have to unplug and re My computer needs to be restarted, so plug it in! Because you piece of @$ products do not work, a gamer cannot RESTART in the middle of our game!
3. My boss agreed to let me speak about their software. the Synpase of the Razor If you used to trust Razor and made the mistake of buying products from them over a long period of time, you'll be disappointed to learn that their legacy products have no support. They push a new version of Synpase and your old devices are no longer recognized and now you have TWO version of there @$ software running on your computer. OW Yes! When you run two programs at the same time, you'll have a lot of issues. br>br>There's a reason why they're less expensive than other brands like Corsair, Steelseries, and Logitech. BUYER BEWARE! THEY ARE JUNK!.

Great color, but some features are missing
4/5

You're probably here for the LEDs at this price, and Razer doesn't let you down. It works right away after being plugged in, and the base lighting up looks fantastic; however, more lighting would have been nice.

- My main criticism is that the cord is too short. I'd need an extension cord to plug it into the back of my computer, and even with the cord going straight down to the machine, I wouldn't be able to stand up at my standing desk, which is unforgivable at this price for something that only holds your headset.

- There isn't any way to manage the cables. Again, at this price, I expect the charger's wires to be routed beneath the base. Because this headset rest does not charge your headset, a charging cable should be expected. Razer should have allowed the charging cable to dock under the base so that it looks nicer and the charging cable does not fall off or require its own management. br>br>If you're buying this, you're probably a Razer fanatic who will enjoy it regardless. Just be aware of its flaws and continue to support your favorite video game studio.

Spend a little more on this item
4/5

The overall appearance and functionality are excellent. For the price, I'd prefer some of it to be made of a harder plastic, perhaps aluminum. The RGB lighting is nice, but I'm not sure why the razer symbol in the center isn't also rgb; it would have been a nice touch. br>Otherwise, it syncs well with synapse and has a profile that is similar to that of the headsets and mice. br>Overall, if you're a razer fanboy or want a decent rgb headset to start giving your area a little flare, it's great. However, at $60, I'd only buy it if I already had all of the razer products to go with it (which I do). br>br>Nice product, good brand, but, in my opinion, a splurge item.
