It seems that this question is better suited for the seller or manufacturer to answer. can't detect any odor from these and they don't even smell like paint. Another brand I purchased had quite a pungent smell and it was unbearable. Those made by safari ltd do not experience this problem.
However, I noticed it was described differently on the product page. Our project was based on a Biome shoe box diorama, and we bought the set for that purpose.

Safari Ltd. was founded in 1961. When TOOB was in its prime, its animals were awesome. Unlike the ones I used to know, the ones I have now are cheaply made and don't last. There is a lightness and a chalky feel to them. These are very poor quality and I am very disappointed. It is unlikely that these products are worth more than $5. If a manufacturer is using cheaper materials, then they need to lower the price.
