In a nutshell, I find that my puzzle's "C" is symmetrical in the x- and y- axes In actuality, it is asymmetrical and can only be oriented in one direction. A child will not be able to tell visually which side is "up" just as I can not tell one way or another as an adult. The fact that a piece that looks like it should fit but doesn't, makes me as a parent frustrated as well as my child since I have to teach my child how to work around a poor design choice rather than teaching If the letters are symmetrical, or distinctly asymmetrical, they should be prepared accordingly.
Toys like this one have been very disappointing to me. In addition to being a teacher, I also hold a Masters degree in education. It seemed like a fun toy that would be educational. It was so exciting to expect such great things. purchased from this company in the past and been satisfied with my purchases before. I find it sad that if the company would just make one simple adjustment they'd be set. A single color is used for the front and back of the letters. For this reason, letters like s could be very difficult for students with learning difficulties if the company indicated the back of the letter by a mark or made the back white. I bought these especially for students who had sensory issues and reading difficulties. The toy, however, is more of a frustration than a It took marking the back for the problem to be solved. The gift I got for my son on his third birthday was this. Besides being well made, the paint on it is very lovely.
