The book was a gift I bought for my 7 year old grandchild as a way to help him understand how the earth is structured and how its surface is shaped. The way the contours of the ocean floor are reflected in the picture is appealing to me. His new habit is to look up places on the globe that he hears about or reads In summary, I was very pleased with the purchase and what was expected for the price. Of course, if I were buying it for my home library, it would have been larger and made of much more expensive materials however, this is what I expected when I purchased it This was the perfect solution for the purpose I had in mind.

In order to gain a complete framework of reference when analyzing the globe, maps and the internet are not sufficient. I really like this one. This map has a generous print size and is legible (even to my old eyes) for countries, states, cities, etc. It also has topographic information. It's extra nice because the globe is lighted inside, which casts a lovely glow and makes it even more legible (the globe is both pretty and educational). I like this choice very much!.

I got it I had a light bulb blow within the first five minutes of having it While lighting was not the reason we purchased the item, it has the potential to be more reliable. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to open the globe without destroying it at the same time. Even though it will still work as a globe, look elsewhere if you prefer a night light.

Considering that I will be giving it to a smart 5 year old child, she will be able to learn from it for years to come.

It does not meet the manufacturer's standards. The paper on the round form begins to peel off. The LED light was not functioning as well. There was damage to the packaging/box. As soon as I received it, I mailed it back. Sorry to have disappointed you.

Furthermore, the product was damaged upon arrival. My kids and I were thrilled to open the globe this morning, so we pulled it out and showed them. Additionally, the globe arrived damaged, so the print is faint and it is difficult to read. Despite the fact that I hate returning things and will try to fix them to not return, I thought this case would not be the case. If the plastic breaks, it is my fault. It does not seem to be a bad globe, but for $50 you would expect.
