HyLoft 00651 45-Inch by 15-Inch Steel Wall Shelf for Garage Storage, Low-Profile Brackets, Hammertone, 2-Pack

The shelves are 45 inches long, so you can't line them up end to end and have the braces two studs apart without trimming one end. This is a very solid product, but if you're using it to span a wall corner to corner with 16" spacing on your studs, you'll have math issues. The worst part is that I tried calling the company to order more braces so that I could ensure that I had enough support underneath all of the shelves, but they refused to sell me any. I was tempted to call back and claim that one of the sets was missing braces and request that they be sent to me for free, but I couldn't bring myself to be dishonest simply because the company isn't customer-focused. br>br>I would have given them 4 or 5 stars without even thinking about it if I didn't need to span an entire wall and was hanging these one above the other.

You might be wondering how I can give a 5-star rating to sturdiness while giving a 1-star rating to the entire product. br>Here's the reason: br>These shelves are made in China by placing all of the pieces into a programable jig welding machine, which holds all of the pieces in place while welding, then cleans and paints the shelves. br>The issue is that their jig bends the shelves lengthwise, and once welded, they don't straighten out. There is no way to straighten them out. br>I used my Stabila level to check the front and back of the shelves, and both were nearly 2 inches off. That is, if one end of the shelf is flush against the wall, the other end will "bow" out by one inch. 2 inches; Likewise, the front will do so. br>This is the issue with goods made in China; Korean and Taiwanese cuisines are also available. They have no qualms about cutting corners in order to increase profits. Companies should send their own personnel to supervise production and ensure that quality standards are met. If there had been a quality control system in place, this would not have happened. br>Kudos to Amazon for stepping up and accepting responsibility for my situation and making it right!.

This product has completely transformed our garage and I am very pleased with it. I purchased a 16-foot-long shelf. They worked so well in my garage that I'm going to buy another 32 feet. They have a fantastic appearance and are extremely long-lasting. My neighbors and friends are envious of how spotless my garage has become. In the attached photos, I've installed two 16ft. rows.

It's worth noting that I installed Fleximount shelves just a few days ago. Between these two items, there is a world of difference. Because of the dimensions, I decided on this particular shelving. I would have chosen the Fleximount if I had been able to accommodate 48" wide shelving. br>br>The price difference isn't significant. However, there is a huge disparity in terms of quality. The Fleximount came well packaged, whereas the HyLoft did not. When the box arrived, everything inside felt "loose," with only one small styrofoam cube and the brackets zip-tied to the shelves. Some are cinched up tight, while others aren't. Washers were included in the Fleximount package. HyLoft is not one of them. The Fleximount's bolt quality is noticeably better than that of the HyLoft, despite not being exceptional. HyLoft is, on the whole, a little flimsy. It's easy to set up. The main reason for this is that I used the Fleximount template. Otherwise, I would have needed to spend a little more time leveling everything. The method they use to "securely fasten" the shelves is the main issue for me. Rubber stoppers are provided for this purpose. In reality, the stopper's purpose is to keep the shelf pushed forward so that it will be "locked," meaning that you won't be able to remove it by pulling upwards. It has no effect on it moving laterally, which it can easily do. br>br>Fleximount solves this by using a slightly different interlock system and providing velcro straps to secure the bracket's middle to the self. The interlock system eliminates the need for a rubber stopper, and the velcro handles side-to-side motion well. By no means is it perfect. But I understand their dilemma: there's no way of knowing how far apart the brackets will be on each installation. br>br>I zip tied it in place, borrowing a trick from the Fleximount playbook. It appears to work reasonably well. br>br>I included a photo of the rubber stop as well as the zip ties (the loose ends were cut off after I was finished). br>br>The HyLoft will work, but given the general quality of things, I expect it to rust over time. br>br>Get the Fleximount ones if you can go 4 feet and don't mind 12" deep.

Look at the photos I took. I don't write many reviews, but this one is well worth it. Look at the photos I took. br>br>Very sturdy shelf. Everyone else who said the Shelf fell right off the wall obviously didn't mount it to studs because it comes with strong bolts. Hyloft claims that each shelf can hold 200 pounds. There were no issues. Someone else mentioned that their shelves were bent. br>br> Take a look at my photos; they're all perfectly straight.

Only thing I'd suggest is for Hyloft to make another version of this shelf that is 50% longer than this shelf that is 50% longer than this.

They worked out perfectly when I fastened them into the foundation wall of my basement. For each bracket, I used two hex head tapcon fasteners with a 1/4" x 1 1/4" hex head and two washers. To drill the holes into the concrete and make the process easier for yourself, you'll need a good hammer drill or rotary hammer drill. I used a Dewalt D25313K rotary hammer drill and a Bosch HC2011 3/16" SDS-W rotary hammer drill. plus bit (both previously purchased from Amazon) that, when used together, cuts through concrete like butter. br>br>I also needed to shorten one of the shelves, which I accomplished with the help of a hack saw and 5 minutes of my time.
