Approximately 36" x 96" is the outside dimension of the frame.
There is not much sway in it. Attaching the uprights to a wall will ensure that the frame won't wobble at all when it's installed against a wall. The wall that was 18 inches from the right and left corner uprights and the right upright could not be done that way so a scrap of 2x4 was attached to it. Simple fix for a cheap price. There were no wobbles. In the end, I did this more out of peace of mind I did not see
As far as I know, the rack can hold four bicycles. It would seem a bit crowded if the physical space were 3' x 8'. If you hang each bike properly, you will need to organize it carefully.
There is no limit to where you can mount it as long as there is a sturdy ceiling to support the unit with a load.

This rack has made a huge difference to my life. It has no missing parts, no missing threads, and it has a superb design I find the quality to be truly Prior to choosing this, I considered many options for garage storage, and there is no doubt that it was the best choice, both in terms of price and functionality. Even though the instructions tell you what has to be done, they do not grant you all the knowledge necessary in order to carry out this task, since knowing the center-piece of information is the most critical. There is a distance of about 13 feet between the ceiling holes. Despite the fact that this was not difficult to figure out, I suggest the manufacturer add this information to the directions since telling us the required finished outside dimensions may not be helpful to everyone. In terms of proficiency with the tools, I would say I am pretty good. I bought 3x6 and 3x8 racks from this company, and they are attractive and install as expected, but the poorly machined bolt holes indicate structural issues, so I can only give them a mediocre rating. *You can see the bottom bolt going on the way it should in the picture provided. top bolt is missing by at least 1/8th of an inch, making it impossible to thread it. The two platform sections bolt together perfectly flush, but the top bolt is off by at least 1/8th inch. It is therefore impossible to align the platform hole with physical pressure unless I unconnect the two platforms. You will need to choose one of the following options if you wish to use a rack with this problem This is 1. 1. Drilling out the platform and purchasing a locking nut to hold on to the bolt (the platform is threaded)*2. A bolt head must be driven through the bracket by drilling it out and by purchasing a washer that prevents this from happening. 2.
It would be a pain to send the bulky package back just to return it and hope the replacement works, but anyone who purchases these racks should expect to have to Although the rack should be manufactured, we should not be required to assist in the process. Considering this issue was present on both of the racks I purchased, I would not advise new buyers to buy from Fleximounts.
I've wanted to install overhead storage in our garage for a while now, and I recently found out that it's so easy to do. Finally we got it! I am so glad we did! I love the black color of this dress and we really appreciate the solid color It was amazing how sturdy it turned out to be! Our family loves that it's adjustable in height and that it's a good size. It holds (4) 27 gallon totes and has room for a smaller one, this is the 3' x 8'! Our only complaint was that both of us had a little difficulty understanding the instructions at certain points, but once we both read them over thoroughly & explained everything, everything was clear. All the pieces came together to make sense once you put them all together. My purchase was definitely a good one! There is still one more to be done.
