A money bag is too large for the ledge, and it will drop below it when dropped. In my attempts to make one work, I was unable to do so.

As a whole, that unit measures 12" from top to bottom. As long as they are flush on both sides, it won't matter which way the wall faces. In either case, this would not interfere with the door's function. However, it may depend on whether or not there is a mounting surface (wall stud) that matches up with the predrilled holes on the door.
I installed it under an overhang of a small porch so the drop is under the overhang but I don't think it withstands rain and still remains dry. It is my method of dropping off checks to tenants of mobile homes.

It is very easy to install and is great. Nice design, but does not protect against fishing. The "fingers" inside are supposed to do so, but don't. The thieves that are out there are already familiar with how to outsmart this box, so please be aware of that if you are considering using it for rent payments. In an attempt to limit that kind of attack, we switched to a drop box, but sadly, there was still an attack.

The bag is durable, strong, just the right size, I love Those who are on the fence about whether or not to order a wall safe / drop box should order it now. You won't be disappointed! This is for my property so I can pay my rent. The system was quickly installed and is still currently working without any problems months later.
The dropbox in our condo office was compromised, so we purchased this to replace it. There is also the added safety feature of shredding any documents that someone attempts to pull out in an attempt to "fish" out money. However, residents have not understood that large envelopes can neither fit in the drop box nor be used.

An excellent foundation for a business This drop box is mounted on the wall. I only have a minor gripe - no screws are provided for the trim pieces, and there is no template provided with the hardware. It ended up costing me anyway to purchase all of the different lags, washers, and screws. In most cases, you can install it yourself if you're handy.
It's really amazing how good this product is! We are very pleased with the installation and the look of the website. I definitely would buy this product again!
