During the hottest months, I work as a crossing guard at a school and it is very difficult to endure what I do for an hour and a half without a hat. We need to wear bright hats to achieve the recommended look, so finding one that blends with the vest would be of benefit. This hat serves that purpose well, as it is extremely bright. makes sure that drivers can see you more easily, regardless of the weather outside. I am not sure if it will work well in practice, since I only work at night, but I can see light reflect off of it when held under a light, so I am assuming it does. Since it gets very windy here at any time, the chin strap is extremely helpful as I don't have to worry about the hat flying off my head all the time. I can't imagine having to chase the hat around all the time during rush hours! I also like how light this hat feels, much better than a lot of other shade hats I've tested before. It is much more comfortable during the hot months here because of this, along with the mesh vents on the hat. Having just wide enough of a rim to keep the afternoon sun off the neck, face, and scalp makes the cap a great choice, as sunburn is a terrible thing to get in the afternoons. I do have one complaint about this hat, which is that the rim is very thin, so any wind over 5 mph bends the rim up or back. It shouldn't be a big deal, but with some cleaning it could be better. My primary reason for purchasing this was to wear it on the beach as I wanted something light, tropical, that would keep my face and neck from being overheated. With this one, I think I am on to something! As my head is large, I ordered the 2xl size, and I couldn't be happier. The hat must be neither too tight nor too loose to allow for a good fit without causing headaches and excessive hat-wearing You're right. Additionally, I like that it comes with a cord so I can keep it my hands or in case it blows away. There's no charge. It's also suitable for yard work or outdoor events, though I would suggest the darker/orange one, so it won't show dirt so much. I think I will pick that up I am very pleased with the results.

It's hard for me to get out of bed in the morning. A L/XL fits my 7 3/4 hat size noggin just fine. Hat is decent, especially given the under $8 price. I took one star off because the sweatband is as wimpy as one could be (short of being nonexistent). This hat is not overly floppy (which I think is a good thing) . Most people would consider lime green to be safety yellow.

Pack this hat in a pocket or put it in your pack because it easily rolls up. This is a fairly well-constructed article. There seems to be enough length for the strap to hang up on a shirt or bag strap. This hat may flop over time, and the brim may need some darkening (maybe some fabric paint will help). This is just what I was looking for for my day hikes. The brightness of the sun has been commented on during recent hiking trips in Grand Canyon and Volcanoes National Parks. Straps were no problem for me, and the choker/retainer held well when the winds blew. I did not normally wear hats, so it did not shade well and was a little uncomfortable (very light weight). The device even kept my eyes from constant tearing up when I wore it in a light sprinkle of rain.
