In spite of the fact that I am using it indoors, it could easily be installed outdoors given the way it was built. The gate locking mechanism is not placed outdoors so I am unsure of whether or not it would rust over time.
In contrast to what most believe, there is actually an extension option available. To connect one of the panels from the extension to the 18" short panel, I removed the plastic end pieces of the panel and switched them around with a Phillips screw driver. It's a go! This is a great tool! As part of my review, I will have a picture of the finished product. They will ask for an evaluation when they ask for one.
I see that the new design has addressed this issue. As a result of buying the gates this week, we mounted it pretty easily without having to rely on Notches do not have to be cut in the molding, nor do shims have to be placed

With my handy hand, I mounted all three screws stripped on the first hinge, but I waited until the heads were embedded so deeply below the surface of the hinge (down in the inset) that they could not be removed with pliers, so I had to drill them out. Tighten the screw These are the bits to be removed. The pain is real. To solve my problem, I ended up using a screw that looks like the "Hard-to-Fix" Five to eight The piece is available here on Amazon, but I purchased it at a local big-box store As a second suggestion, ignore the installation instructions that tell you to place the mounting hinges using the paper template included with the product. You may attach the lower hinges to your gate wherever you know they will go instead, be sure to mount the hinges where you know they will go. I'd say that we're on the right track. In addition, the manufacture has not yet resolved the issue of how to integrate new lower trim work into the installation. What would happen in this I had to trim a lower trim piece at one of my install locations, so I did the following to complete the install Please note
. . .
The lower hinges must be mounted to the trim work directly. The square proved to be an easy means of accomplishing this As I was driving the screws, I was aware that there was a concave area in my trim work and I had to be careful not to overdrive They could have drawn the hinge inward and bent it, or possibly snapped it if they hadn't tightened the screws. It is
As a shim for the upper hinges, I stacked two square pieces of 1/4" plywood on top of each other (like pancakes on a stack). The result was a 1/2" shim that separated the upper hinge from the wall by roughly the same amount as the gap between that trim and the wall edge. For this particular installation, I have included pictures of the upper and lower hinges. I could have improved the raw, unfinished look of the upper hinge shim by routing, sanding, and painting the wood prior to gate installation, but I did not have enough time to do that (nor to let the paint The puppy will be broken for a while, so we don't care if it looks unfinished.
Fortunately, the other two install locations did not have any trim work to deal with, so the installations went even more smoothly. If you plan to use the installation method described at the beginning (discarding their templates and using square-shaped You'll be able to do it one-handed with a little practice, and there is an automatic mode, too There is a thunking mechanism (but not one too loud) that closes the gate behind you once you exit. It is also possible to open the door wide enough that it remains open if wanted. There is no doubt that with proper use, these things are great, but for proper installation, there is a noticeable lack of quality both in the screws and in any guidance (or design changes) necessary to allow for the very common condition of lower trim work being in the way. Having said that, I would still buy these if I had to do it again, but I would grit my teeth.
Based on several reviews, I decided to purchase this product even though some people found the product to be a fraction shorter than the advertised 72". The authors of several reviews showed that they had been able to fashion spacers to resolve the problem. T. , however, had reviewed the product and I was able to determine that it's worth buying. I was able to secure perfectly engineered spacers for the gate thanks to Hughes' post on January 30, 2016. As a member of a review panel, Mr. Hughes stated that as a project for middle school students in Kokomo, IN, he had them create spacers to fill the gap using a 3D printer. The gentleman graciously invited anyone interested in manufacturing similar spacers to contact him. The next day I sent an email with pictures of the space and the measurements to Mr. Hughes, and he responded with two pairs of perfectly engineered spacers that fixed I am very pleased with your work.
A 3D CAD program was used to measure the mount, trim, and map it all out, and a 3D printer was used to print their design. In the pictures, you can see the results of their work. We can print out however many pieces you need to install the gate on your home and keep the little ones safe! Please find our contact information at and we'll take care of getting them made for you!.
The pet gate that I was looking for for our two furry friends did not stand out to me much. I am thankful to the person who left a review about the North States pet gate and mentioned it wasn't the gate they liked. I arrived at the gate at 6 a. m. There was nothing opened in the shipping box, and it was well protected by it. There were no damages to the pieces inside. As part of that installation, you may be required to drill into the drywall or to mould the bottom of your gate when mounting the hardware it's attached to. A door must be able to function properly with these lines lined up just right. We gave the product a four star rating because the supplied screws were too long and no drywall anchors were In order to attach the bottom brackets to the floor moulding, I used the provided screws. It keeps the little ones safe in a confined area when we leave the house and does what it is designed to do. Forget the wooden or plastic gate - the gate is made of metal. Here is a sample decision making process I hope helps.
