As much as I liked these nibblers, I must say I was disappointed. The hardie siding I got them for had a 5/16 inch thickness. While they do cut planks, I find that they are not as clean as spotting the boards and snapping them. It is common for them to make a mess of the waste material that is extruded in the cutting process. There is no easy way to get a line to be straight. There were a lot of things I wanted to like about You may be able to clamp a guide to press against if you have a work area like that, but for me that didn't work at all. Regarding a question I had for the manufacturer about the differences between the SS704 and SS724, I am sure you can answer your own question as well. Similarly, the 704 is made in China and I wanted to know where the 724 was made. Both emailed and called the company to find out what the problem was and never heard back. It's time to go back to the old ways.

The first couple of cuts are a little difficult to get used to so I recommend making some practice cuts. Overall, I've been extremely satisfied. Using both a cordless and a corded drill motor, I found that my high speed makita drill gives me better results. In my opinion, the cord is better. There is a very high degree of accuracy and cleanliness in the cuts. The motor of the drill could be held in one hand while I held the material with the other. Once I was familiar with the mechanics, I was able to cut with just one hand.
