Metal roofing and siding were the purposes of purchasing these. A very comfortable tool, with plenty of power and a light weight. You can use them effectively when you are cutting straight lines without being on a rib. The ribs a typical metal roof have make it almost impossible to cut across them. If you're cutting metal for siding, you can't make any plunge cuts, such as to cut a window in the middle. This tool may not have been designed for use in the manner in which I used it. In addition to being perfect for cutting flat surfaces, it is also ideal for cutting irregular.
The tool I purchased will be used to build pole barns with corrugated roofs and metal panel walls. It was noted by someone else that these shears are only good for straight cuts. The ribbed panels don't work well when you try to cut over them. This time, we're going to use the Makita cordless nibbler. It is quite possible that I will retain them just in case, and I will add them to my collection of Dewalt 20V toolboxes.
I really like this tool, it has a lot of advantages over the corded alternative, however, it has one downside, the lock on rotating the head comes loose from tool vibrations and it's also very easy to hit while using it.
On the first job, it made its money for us. The tool saved me the time to do 6 rips of about 20 feet each and I considered it a worthwhile investment. I also had the benefit of not having a beard full of metal shavings at the end of the day, since it was much safer than using a steel blade with my circular saw. As far as I am concerned, it is safe enough to use by my 12-year-old and 13-year-old daughters. You're the best!.
It's the perfect tool for the job at hand. The software is easy.
I love how well it works. Some of the heavier grades of metal can be cut without problem.
