Questions & Answers

What kind of track does this saw fit on?

The Festools track spacing was copied both by Makita and now by Wen so yes this is working. There are two different spacings for DeWalt and Kreg.

How much space does it take up in the storage case?

The saw is all you need.

The bases of the saws are made of what kind of material?

A majority of the saw, including the baseplate, is made of aluminum die casting. I have NOT been using

This saw fits on a Makita track, is that right?

The Makita track will work with this saw. As of right now, this is what I have set up.

You should buy the saws (from Wen) and the tracks (from Powertec)
5/5

This is an amazing A tracksaw sounds appealing, don't you think? Embrace it with both feet. I recommend buying the bare saw, and the powertec tracks will be your best friend. I've heard that people have had problems with their saws not gliding smoothly when using wen tracks. I've never heard of any problems with powertec tracks. I've used the saw many times and it's always great. It performs flawlessly, has plenty of power, and is very extremely comfortable to use. There are some who don't like kickbacks, but I'm not bothered by them. It's nice to have the anti-tipping feature and the score cut on the saw. It is truly one of the best saws on the market! I suggest purchasing the $115 saw that has no tracks and getting the powertec tracks which I recommend the 71387 for both Makita and Festoon. This is a 135 dollar package which includes 2 55" tracks. The saw and the track can be used as one tool for four feet of crosscuts, then connected for eight feet of rip cuts. It is remarkable that for $250, you can buy an excellent system (saw and tracks) at much less than half the price of big brands. In my opinion, the only reason to buy a Festool over a Wen is the dust collection capabilities. To be honest, the wen dust collection is actually quite good! In a home where dust is an issue even the TS 55 may not be able to produce dustless cuts, you will still need to go outside regardless of whether it is a Festool, Dewalt, Makita, Mafell, Bosch cutter. There will be some saw dust, but the saw is mostly metal (a big plus for me), so it is a little heavy but I will take it over plastics any day. Are there any professionals I could recommend? The answer may or may not be yes. Despite the fact that I do not see any problems with this saw, I am sure that it cannot handle the same beating that a saw that costs $500+ can cope with, though you shouldn't beat around precision equipment like this. This is a 10 out of 10. Small businesses, DIY enthusiasts, and companies will find this saw helpful. While I am sure it will work for commercial guys, I have no way of testing it. Therefore, I cannot comment on its efficacy.

You will get an excellent value for your money, but make sure you use the right blade
5/5

I summarize my review with the recommendation that you should NOT purchase the Oshlun 160mm blade pointed out by other reviewers. need a better blade than the one that comes with the saw, but the correct blade diameter is 165mm, so the DW5258 from Dewalt is the least expensive option. A blade that is not the correct size will cause the depth gauge to be incorrect and the scoring function will not You will notice that I located a WEN CT9502 100-level component I was able to use the track saw guide rails with my inch track saw just fine, so I did not need to invest more in Powertec rails as others have recommended, although they sound just as good. Is there any mechanism for the saw to operate? The price was kind of steep for what you are getting. I removed the anti-virus however, but it still worked. Like others have suggested, a kickback cam would be helpful. By doing so and carefully adjusting the two guides on the track, and then using a paste wax like SC Johnson's to wax the sole plate and track, the track now slides wonderfully smoothly. When it comes to removing anti-virus programs, You're on your own to remove kickback cam -- I removed it because it got in the way of doing projects. Once when I was stupid and started to slide the saw backwards with the blade on the ground, there was a little kickback, but I was able to handle it with both hands on the saw. I had ok results when cutting baltic birch plywood with the stock blade, but I did not achieve great results. As soon as the Dewalt blade was added, they began to look My needs were met by using the scoring feature in order to get perfect cuts across the grain of the top veneer. A feature that can be easily added is this one The stop is actuated by a 2 and cut by the cut. Firstly, you should make a 5mm deep cut before you make a second pass to cut everything The extra step might not have been required if I had a Festool, but I can't complain given that I got the tool for a discount. It does not collect much dust, even when the blade change hole is The Festool track saws are almost certainly the best in this regard, but based on the reviews it looks like the Makita and Dewalt track saws are not far behind. br>br>I think the biggest problem here is that there is no hard case presented. It would have been nice if we could at least purchase Ah well, I'll have to try to make the cardboard box from which it came last for years. With alternative saws costing tens of thousands of dollars more, this was an amazing bargain. Although I understand why some might choose this over a Festool if they need perfection, I don't think the Makita or Dewalt have enough compelling advantages to justify their higher price, unless they can you need a hard case and want to save a bit. On the other hand, the Wen saves a significant amount of money in comparison with all of the others.

It seems to be very well built
5/5

I have only used this saw a couple times, but it has already proven to be a strong tool! The blade cuts neatly and straight. The cuts have almost no tearout when I use it with a foam insulation board underneath as a sacrificial surface. For the price you can't beat this, but I wish it had a riving knife. Other than that, the only thing I wish it had was a riving knife. Overall, I cannot think of a better WEN tools are of a very high quality, and I now have a complete trust in their quality after owning a few other WEN tools. I have owned everything they have made so far and every single piece has turned out to be of great I am only a guy who plays around in the garage a couple of times a week, so I'm not really putting any of these things into production. You might think this is a home run, but I think it's perfect!.

As much as I wanted to like it, I ordered it with Many reviews recommend the PowerTec track on the Wen
3/5

It is the same thing I have noticed across some other clone reviews (Wen is a clone as well). As advertised, the saw I received was not what I expected. Although the clamps on the one I got were dramatically different from the one described, I could tell it was the same model. There is an anti-terrorism campaign in the United States The kickback was extremely frustrating, like it would kick out of the track when the trail veered even slightly backward. The danger of dealing with aluminum sleds is greater than a kickback because you're using aluminum conduit. As you could see by the drag the saw created on the track, the saw was very heavy. In the end, I returned it to Amazon and upgraded to a The detachable arm worked exactly how it should, going on the PowerTec sled and gliding (no joke) along In summary, here are the bottom line statistics You should get the Makita instead of this China garbage if you have the money.
